Another GOP Family Values Champion Resigns in Sex Scandal

Mike Duvall, Republican State Representative (Orange County) of California, has been a shrill, over-the-top defender of "family values". 

He is remembered for telling outrageous untruths about "gay people" and "the Gay Agenda" in the fight over Prop 8 last year.

The SOB just resigned after bragging about an affair with an oil company lobbyist in front of an open microphone.

After an entertaining summer of John Ensign and Mark Stanford, we now have anther hypocrite exposed through stupidity.

Is this a trend?

Is it God's way of punishing hypocrites?

Unlike Stanford and Ensign, this dim (high school dropout) "family values" stalwart has resigned

At least this one resigned. We're going to have to march on the state capital with pitchforks and torches to get rid of Sanford.

Sanford is a great example of how a narcissitic personality can appear "cool" under pressure.

I do not believe that he is dissembling; it is possible that nothing is "real" to him beyond trhe defense of his fragile "self" which consumes all his energy.

There is a lot of speculation that Duvall's hasty resignation has more to do with avoiding a look at his "cozy" relationship with an influential lobbyist than with his marriage vows.

It is a trend.

I expect to live long enough to see every pompous moralizer who crusaded after Bill Clinton have his "moment" in the spotlight.

Of course, for slimeballs like "Diaper Dave" Vitter of Louisiana, his constituents don't seem to mind.

Apparently for the Capital Resource Institute "family-friendly" means hating gay people and communists, and insisting on a right to hit your children with "implements" such as switches, belts, electrical cords, etc. I'm not surprised that a man who would pander to a group like this would cheat on his wife and then brag about it to his fellow Assemblymen. I am a bit surprised that he actually resigned.

It seems a small improvement to me that this guy had the grace to be embarrassed enough to resign unlike some other politicians we know!

you are correct - i was being too generous with the word, grace! and you know that Politics couldn't run at all without dirty secrets because then there'd be nothing for party bosses or opponents to blackmail with!

As i always say on my blogs: America is my only nag in the race.
