Last weekend was beautiful and Rich and I decided to take a short ride to Port Jefferson. It is a little town with lots of small unique stores and lots of restaurants. The best feature of Port Jefferson is the harbor where the ferries come in and out that take you to Connecticut. Here are some pictures I would like to share with you.
This statue is in memory of a woman named Darla who died in childbirth. I googled it to find out more info but I couldn't find any. It is right on a corner across from the Port Jefferson Ferry.

A little quiet place in a very busy tourist town.

An old building that someone told me was a bank long ago.

Pasta Pasta, one of the great restaurants down in port.

A cool old house that has a side area where you can purchase things.

The ticket and tourist info booth. You can rent boats from here also.

I thought this little boat planter was cute. It was right down on the pier.

This is the Martha Jefferson, it is a sightseeing and party boat. They have dancing and dj's on it.

The McAllister tug boat.

Private boats on the sound.

Here comes one of the ferries, the Grand Republic. With all its cars and passengers on board coming from Connecticut to dock at Port Jefferson, Long Island.

That is my post of this Long Island, New York area. Watch for more scenes from Port Jefferson at Christmas time. Hopefully I will make the Dickens Festival there this year where they have people dressed in period costumes and singing Christmas Carols on the streets.
