I love an inspirational story and Hounded, Truman's Story shines as how the planting of the mustard seed can grow in someone's soul. This biography of Truman Mahoney and his brother Harry recounts their lives as complete devotees to lawlessness, violence, and mayhem. I think it is interesting to note that these men's father was a Methodist minister and possibly the divine seed was planted in Truman at a very young age.
Clifford's detailed accounts Truman and Harry's careers in bank robberies and their years of incarceration in Angola Prison in Louisiana and Alcatraz made me count my blessings that I chose walk on the right side of the law. Truman's talk with God while in a life and death situation in Alcatraz, vividly illustrates that some may have to be flat on their backs before following the path of righteousness.
Truman's and Harry's adventures while trying to recover their hidden, stolen loot reminds me of a Three Stooges movie. With such a comedy of errors, why didn't these men discover that going to work might be safer and more profitable.
Clifford's long career in the ministry clearly shows through with his compassion for his friend Kenny. He tells the story via a series of e-mails with Kenny.
If you like an adventuresome, entertaining, and inspiring read this is your book. Thanks Clifford! I think this would make a great television mini-series.
