Conservatives: Protect Your Children!

The president of the United States, that duly-elected antichrist, has chosen to address the school children of this country on Wednesday. This is the last perversion of a school system that has systematically tried to destroy young minds since it was created. If you value your children’s ignorance—er, innocence, you should keep them home. There is no way you should allow your children to hear the antichristian message that staying in school is important.

Many of you have fought the good fight to keep your children’s innocence. You have fought those sinful ideas like the Big Bang and evolution, because Jesus did not teach it, and you are right. It is more important that your children know what people knew 2,000 years ago than what they have learned recently. After all, faith is timeless.

Natural selection is a story told by the devil. Students should not be given the idea that the fittest will survive, because Jesus did not say it. As we all know, Jesus said everything worth knowing, and everything else is nonsense.

There are further threats to your children’s souls in the public schools. School districts are allowing heretics to teach reading and writing. In truth, there are many teachers who do not believe in Jesus, and the government does not even care. It would probably be best to keep your children away from them. You wouldn’t want them to get the idea that it was possible to believe anything besides what you call the truth, and not be struck by lightning.

High schools have also begun teaching people to speak ferrin languages, especially Spanish, which as we all know, is the tongue spoken by those evil brown people who live south of us. Learning Spanish would enable your children to communicate with the 329 million people who claim it as their native tongue. This would be terrible. We know that all of those people are trying to sneak into the United States illegally so they can destroy our way of life. Our maid and gardener are the exceptions. They live to work in our homes for a pittance. It is their greatest joy to make our homes and yards pretty.

In fact, it might be a good idea to take your children out of school entirely. As has been noted elsewhere, public schools have been trying to corrupt children in a great many ways. They insist on teaching of that Arabic-based abomination, al-gebra. The mathematics they teach includes the heathen-based concept called “zero,” which did not originate in the Bible, and therefore cannot possibly be true.

Some high schools are teaching that abomination, the Cartesian coordinate system, invented by that heretic, Rene Descartes, who tried to use reason to prove the existence of God, instead of just depending on the Bible. In colleges across this country, students are actually reading that heretic’s writings. The professors are only allowing students to use logic to find the faults in his arguments, instead of using Biblical texts.

All in all, public schools in America are a dreadfully corrupting influence on our youth, fitting them to go to university in record numbers, where they will stray further from your side and from employment at Burger Heaven. It is your duty as a good, Bible-believing Christian to prevent the educational system from destroying your children’s spiritual lives.

Keep them safe from Barack Obama. Save them from the “theory” of evolution. Don’t let them read Harry Potter, and make sure they do not learn a foreign language. America needs a great many navies and skivvies. Don’t let your children miss this great career opportunity.

Ya know, they say those who can't understand criticize. Try looking at something from a different point of view, i know that liberals can't stand people who are different from them so why don't we practice one of your values, diversity.
Ann Weaver Hart Sep 7, 2009, 7:36pm EDT
You just asked me to practice diversity so that you don't have to. So very typical of conservatives.
This is not about diversity. This is about conservatives refusing to accept diversity. This is about putting your fingers in your ears and singing la la la, so you don't have to hear anything that might make you change one of your opinions. Ignorance and innocence both came from the same Latin root word, but they are not synonyms.

Jersey, it is you, and Lee Y., and the millions like you who think that if you scream loud enough you can make reality suit you. Doesn't work that way. If I have to tolerate you, you have to tolerate me. I have to listen to the stuff you say all day long. It's time for that to work in the other direction.
Lee Y. Sep 8, 2009, 2:57pm EDT
Ann ... I do tolerate you. And if you notice I am not screaming. You have a totally perfect right to do this kind of rant; but your inner turmoil is neither Jersey's nor my responsibility or fault. Nor does she deserve to be laughed at, derided, or accused of being drunk just for stating her opinion.

Ah well .... par for the course and to be expected in this venue. We venture in knowing the possible consequences; thick skin and all ...

But let me reiterate just in passing that Jersey actually did nothing to encourage or deserve the responses she got. It all came from within you, louis, and Spartan. Jersey merely stated her opinion.
Ann Weaver Hart Sep 8, 2009, 4:13pm EDT
Jersey's opinion is that I should tolerate her intolerance. Yeah, right.
Lee Y. Sep 8, 2009, 11:21pm EDT
Ann said: Jersey's opinion is that I should tolerate her intolerance. Yeah, right.

Lee says: Ann ... I don't know Jersey except from what she said here. And from what she said here, what I saw was she has a different opinion of the issue. You have a different one from hers. This is one of the differences which makes for a diverse populace.

Or is it?

You said to Jersey: This is not about diversity. This is about conservatives refusing to accept diversity.

Lee says: Huh?

But isn't my conservative pov part of the diverse nature of humanity? Is your version of diversity and tolerance one in which my differing opinion and conservative view is excluded from your tolerant liberal inclusiveness?

Or is it only diversity when it's a "diversity" of people who hold the same opinions on issues?

I'm not being sarcastic. Just asking.

Ann Weaver Hart Sep 8, 2009, 4:13pm EDT

Wow. This is the most hilarious thing, I've read since another post I read earlier today.
I mean, what next? Forcing kids to listen to Congress? What a sad debacle that will be.
And, why should they know anything about government? I mean, they won't be voting at eighteen right?
Just plain silly, is all this is.

You should hear all the conspiracy theories of my brother about how Obama is trying to corrupt the minds of school children and to turn them into communists. I have to wonder if he has lost all his marbles. It sure seems like it.

it must be that the right complains about watching but not enough people who want to see it have the idea of calling in and telling the school they want to see it.
Of course some of this school are run by republicans and they are just as rabid as a mad dog.
They are simply doing what their party says to do, they work well together because they are not a party like others, they are an organization with the goal of leading America to a fascist regime and a proper place for the church. No doubt we would have religious war and either a pope in America or a high priest for the church of reformation.
At this point all the citizen would be of the same religion, like the Muslim and observe all the religious dates etc...and if you refuse you will be stoned in the public square...sounds like a good book to write.

I wouldn't have a problem with any president speaking to kids in school. Responsible parents will discuss the speech with their kids. It's part of getting involved in your kids' education.

Honestly, I'm more concerned with some of the extra-curricular crap that the teachers are spewing to our kids.

Bravo! You had me for about the first two or three sentences. Very well written.

I'm still upset my children's school district *claims* they don't have the bandwidth for the entire school system to show Obama's student address on Tuesday, so they've decided to give the parents a link to the recorded address and we can watch it with our kids at home. At least they're providing information on watching it and that's more than I can say for other school districts in the area.

You know? I think it would be a great idea for the extremeits to remove all their children from school. At least then the rest of the children in school dcould learn in less crowded conditions, and they could hear the Presidents speech, instead of missing out, because the schools superintendent is playing politics with the childrens lives.
lea and... c. Sep 7, 2009, 8:20pm EDT
This is extremist, it is religious people do not think the pres, should make himself more important than the parent. Sort of looking up to him they dislike.
Mosstlt they do not believe he is a christian because of other issues where his thinking does not match theirs.
Now mind you this is the church who aims to make this nation a real christian nation and the politics of the nation has to be matched but what the bible says based on their interpretation.

As best I can recall, people were concerned about the President asking the kids to do something to help him, not help the country, not help their neighborhood, not help their family, or not even help themsleves in school.

After the conerns were voice then President's message changed and it became about the kids committing to do good in school.

Those seem like two different messages.

I think now that the reaction we are hearing about by the schools and parents is simply what was triggered by the intial message rather than the current one.

I also seem to recall that the Prsident's message was being set up to be a single braodcast with no pre-broadcast inforamtion of how it might fit the schools curriculum plan.

I think it is very good to hear the President have a personal message to the kids about the importance of education. However, I also thinbk it is important that the message proivded in a way that the schools can best use it.

I have to admit the orginal message of asking the kids to write a letter (to themselves) about how they can help Prsident Obama seemed a bit self serving. The message of how education has been a critical part of President Obama succeeding to the Presidency seems much more focused on the kids and being a role model. I like the latter message much more.

Duane B. Sep 7, 2009, 10:18pm EDT
I bleiev that the speech you read was the revised one and not the one that raised the concerns.

I bleiev the orginal one was about President Obama asking the kids to write a letter to themselves about how they could help him (President Obama).
Kathy W. Sep 7, 2009, 10:27pm EDT
Even that, Mr. Bleiev, how is that harmful? Had George Bush decided to have someone write a speech for him, requesting patriotism from the children (not that THAT particular though would EVER have occurred to Curious George) HOW is that harmful? Is it an American sin to back POTUS?
After all, it is The Student's Future he's working to save.

Kathy W.,
A personal solicitation doesn’t sound very patriotic. After all the President and his staff had to stop an relook at what they were say they figured out when talking to kids in school the best focus maybe on the kids and their success rather than on the President and his personal success.
Duane B. Sep 8, 2009, 8:01am EDT
louis a.,
Maybe that is why the PResident's message needed to be change to encourage the kids to stay in school and learn to read rather then try to figure out what they could do to help President Obama.
Kathy W. Sep 10, 2009, 12:36am EDT
Duane B
For you, or for me, that may be correct. But when the Prez of the US speaks...ALL citizens should listen.

We suffered thru many an idiotic (lie-infested) collection of mismatched words with Geo W. Some of which was humorous, some of which was damned skeery, just to find out that Dick, the puppeteer, was really driving the bus.

Those of us that were raised to listen to real news and to listen when the politicians we hired to run the country spoke? We still listen. We seriously vote. We still have our children sit in front of the TVs and listen to POTUS.

Is that a departure for you?

I find it quite interesting that former First Lady, Laura Bush came out today in SUPPORT of President Obama speaking to all the school children. I "think" because of thirty years of having to wear bike helmets, knee pads, and use car seats that we have failed thin out the gene pool. We have become a nation of imbeciles dumbed down even further by 24 hour news cycles on HATE cable television. It saddens me to have to say this but, Americans are just plain stupid!
Kathy W. Sep 7, 2009, 10:29pm EDT
Spartan, my brother says the same thing. We think we are protecting the innocent, but what we're doing is UNdoing Darwin's theory of Natural Selection. Indeed, the ones who rode their bikes off the roof with helmets may now be ruling members of the GOP.
Ain't that a pity?

I can understand both sides of the Argument. Schools are the perfect place to indoctrinate children. Indoctrination is another word for education. A sitting President addressing school children is a frightening thing. The fact is lots of American people don't trust Obama. Don't dismiss these people.. They are American and they matter. If they don't want their children to participate then they should be allowed to opt out. I think Obama is making a huge error in addressing the school children, he won't accomplish anything... he will only further separate himself from the right. He has already lost his momentum and will be out in 12. At this point he needs to concentrate on not burning the entire Democratic Party to the ground. Right or wrong, the American people do not trust him and don't want him addressing their children.
Ann Weaver Hart Sep 7, 2009, 11:20pm EDT
Education is not indoctrination, regardless of what Rush Limpburger told you.
A sitting president talking to any of the citizens of this country is not a frightening thing, unless you are afraid that someone might hear the truth. A majority of the American people DO trust the president. We had to live through eight years of the Crawford village idiot getting us into unfinanced wars with countries that never attacked us. They can jolly well listen to what the rest of us think, now that we have wrested power from their greedy little hands. Right or wrong, conservatives are afraid of anything that might "convert" their children to reasonable human beings.
louis a. Sep 8, 2009, 7:33am EDT
hey Jody...religion is inDOCTRINATION. Education is about using the old noodle and thinking for yourself.

As for loosing the right? did he or will he ever have their support? I think not. As for being American? well the right certainly doesn't treat Democrats that way....look at all the commie socialist crap! you'd think it was the 50's!
Kathy W. Sep 10, 2009, 12:41am EDT
SADLY, education is often (too often) indoctrination, because we do not teach "critical thinking." We teach facts, as we know them today.

I just had a major conversation with my SIL, about this very topic. How to RE-introduce critical thinking into the schools today. What would be the best age to introduce this? Do we have to re-teach the adult population to allow critical thinking in their children? How would we go about doing this?
We don't want to tell people what to think, I think. (((smiles)))
The message we want to tell people (and teach them) IS TO THINK.

We'll have to start at the beginning for most folks.
Religion, parents, and society have all converged to keep folks from thinking for themselves. Or to actually think at all.

I think I just found my next article.
Blessings. Think On.

Yawn!

This partisan drivel is really getting tiresome. And, before you slam me, I mean from BOTH sides.

Everyone seems to gather together with their fellow haters and talk about how stupid or evil or mean the other side is.

Since Obama was sworn in all I see is both sides trading uniforms. If the Liberal and Conservative labels were removed and I didn't know what year it was, I'd be hard pressed to tell one side from the other.

Wouldn't the country make a little more progress with a little less name-calling?
Jan S. Sep 7, 2009, 11:05pm EDT
The fact that so many educators and parents are so concerned about this speech makes a strong statement about perceptions of the current president. I cannot think of even one other president whose influence would have worried people this way.
Kathleen ♥ L. Sep 7, 2009, 11:39pm EDT
Sadly it seems to me that if it were any other President than President Obama there would not be so many people objecting to this speech.
I see this not as a protest against the President of the United States, but more of a protest against the non White President of the United States... after all Clinton, Bush I, Reagan and other Presidents have addressed American school children without this kind of uproar!
Rick *Don Rico* J. Sep 8, 2009, 12:16am EDT
There ya go. Let's make it a race issue!

Where did that come from? Any basis to that?
louis a. Sep 8, 2009, 7:35am EDT
Rick well...hmmm let's see where is most of the opposition? in the old confederacy no? I would think that old patterns might still hold sway in Dixie and in the dixie-crats oh...I mean republicans.
Gary Gentry Sep 8, 2009, 11:57am EDT
No, Jan, The fact that so many parents are upset over this address makes a strong statement about their inability to think past the Fox News channel.
Sheryl O. Sep 8, 2009, 2:35pm EDT
"The fact that so many educators and parents are so concerned about this speech makes a strong statement about perceptions of the current president."

No, it's the loudest and most obnoxious, although in the minority. Who is their right mind would object to their President addressing their children in PUBLIC SCHOOL - a government org - telling them to study hard and stay in school.

Honestly, the people who can even begin to lend a little credence to these objections cast themselves in the light of stupidity and/or hatefulness.

It was a fair election - Obama won. Now, he's your President. Act like you expected everyone to act and respect the office of the Presidency. We had to for eight years while a person was in office who:

1) couldn't put together two logical, grammatically correct sentences;
2) invaded two countries based on fabricated evidence and spent billions and billions of dollars doing so;
3) killed tens of thousands of innocent lives in the process and destroyed our reputation in the world;
4) slashed our Constitution to bits and gave our country the scourge of torture;
5) etc, etc etc

And Bush was still allowed to speak to school children - even read them books while the Twin Towers were attacked.

STop the nonsense, grow up and act like real citizens of this country instead of spoiled brats that didn't get their way.
Jan S. Sep 8, 2009, 3:46pm EDT
"Who is their right mind would object to their President addressing their children in PUBLIC SCHOOL - a government org - telling them to study hard and stay in school."

My point, exactly. What is it about this president that makes so many people uneasy about trusting him with their impressionable children?

Jan S. Sep 8, 2009, 4:09pm EDT
I will say again that the lack of confidence in the current president has nothing to do with his race. It is his politics, methods and questionable ethics that cause so much concern.

It seems that the race card and past presidential errors are the only defenses Obama supporters can think of. Perhaps it is they who need more news sources.
Nippy Katz (not his real name) Patriotic Troll of Gather Freedom Sep 8, 2009, 4:21pm EDT
"It is his politics, methods and questionable ethics that cause so much concern."

Hmm...in other words he's in a class with his predecessor?
Jan S. Sep 8, 2009, 4:49pm EDT
Ann,

I wouldn't respect a president who panders to any group. American presidents are elected to serve the citizens of The Democratic Republic of The United States of America, not to pursue their own agendas or to bring socialism to our free country.
I cringe when I read derogatory lables such as "wingnuts". I guess it is hard for some folks to overcome prejudices. Eliminating name calling will go a long way toward establishing mutual respect.
I think the concern is not about a political party "winning", but about the country declining.

Nippy,

Each president has made mistakes. Although it is still early days, I have grave concerns about this president's plans and his associates.
As I've said above, if the only way Obama supporters can defend him is by saying that someone else was worse, that is hardly inspiring.
Make a list of positive, lasting accomplishments and contributions made by Obama during his senate service and his presidency. It's a short list, isn't it?
Ann Weaver Hart Sep 8, 2009, 6:05pm EDT
Sorry, Jan, the thing about this president that upsets so many is that he does not pander to the religious right. He actually believes that people have brains, and that they should be used. The conservatives are screaming because they are not winning.

As you asked, the offending term has been removed.
Ann Weaver Hart Sep 8, 2009, 6:15pm EDT
Here's the thing, Jan: I get the impression that it is the right's goal to ensure that this administration can accomplish nothing. Not health care reform, not improving our education, not anything. It is not about us going in the wrong direction, it is about the right making sure that we go nowhere. It is about sabotage. "We aren't in charge, so we're going to take our ball and go home."

That kind of tactic is wrong, disloyal, and anti-American.
Kathleen ♥ L. Sep 8, 2009, 8:00pm EDT
I brought up the 'Race Card' primarily because that is the ONLY difference I can see between President Obama and the past presidents who have spoken to school children over the years. It can't be that he's a Democrat because so was Clinton.
***************************************
bring socialism to our free country.

This kind of nonsense just reinforces my perception that so many of those who oppose Obama's speech are just mindlessly following the dictates of Fox Noise and the Rush Limpburgers of the world!!
If you are referring to his attempt to make sure ALL Americans have affordable Health Care then stop and think this through... If you equate Govt funded services with socialism then lets also do away with all Govt funded services... which would include your 'socialist' Fire Departments, Police Departments, Emergency Responders, and all of the other infrastructure services funded by the Government.
Jan S. Sep 8, 2009, 11:19pm EDT
Kathleen,

I have many concerns about the president, but his race is not one.

Ann,

I truly wish to see some admirable progress from this administration. So far, all we've seen is a push toward socialism, bowing to muslim leaders and plans to promote abortion and euthanasia. Right to life offenses are unacceptable to my conscience. I can't and won't speak for others.

I really don't believe that any elected official or citizen wants to see our country decline, regardless of which party is in the white house and congress. Many hate to see what has been achieved be undone, however.
Ann Weaver Hart Sep 9, 2009, 6:37pm EDT
You believe about the forced abortion, euthanasia, and socialism because you want to believe it. It isn't reality; it is simply a thing to fight against, a paper tiger. There is no "push toward socialism." China is the only country I know of that practices forced abortion. But everyone thinks Wal-Mart is a great place, even if most of the stuff they sell came from China. No one would ever suggest not doing business with China over forced abortion.

It's much more comfortable to fight against the fact that conservatives are not calling the shots any more. Thank God for that.

If this comment is for me, you are wrong. I do not watch Fox news. Lots of assumptions going around, so it's understandable. I think our best course of action now is to watch and pray.

Even the guy who started this furor over keeping Obama from speaking to the kids has changed his mind and says he will be glad to let his kids listen to the Pres, now that the subversive elements of the speech have been removed - in other words this is another fake victory from the wacko right.
Duane B. Sep 8, 2009, 3:39pm EDT
Maybe it has something to do with the poorly worded part about asking the kids to write a letter to themselves about helping the President, being removed?

The Sec. of Education said it was poorly worded only after people complained.

Sometimes those outspoken people can get it right and when the changes are made they are willing to support the President.

Loved your article. I just keep wondering how much more paranoid the Limbaugh mob can get and then they insist on showing it. When I went to school they taught us to get the facts, to listen to both sides. We did not learn to fear opinions that might be different, and I still don't fear hearing someone else's views.

And I do think part of this is racist, and part of it is a matter of people being unable to accept they lost the election to the opposing team. I also think much of it is motivated by greed. Bluntly, it seems like insanity to me.

And this is the speech the feared!

From a president who wants to uplift a generation who has felt oppressed. A president who will not accept excuses for failure. A president who wants the best from everyone, who knows we each have something of worth to contribute.

I am with Digital Diva. This would be laughable if it wasn't such a serious principle. Banning a message to stay in school and work hard as indoctrination? Where is the outrage from the Democratic leadership? Our children are falling so far behind kids in China and India that it's pathetic. But then I guess when our seniors (over age 65) are punching and biting people at town hall meetings set up to "discuss" healthcare reform, should we be surprised by the reaction to this?

I think it's a good possibility that Abraham left Ur because the Chaldeans were using a zero like concept in their calendar arithmetic. Besides, they used base 60. Abraham knew that men were superior to women because they had an extra appendage to count with. Even so, the biblical base 21 never caught on.
