Friday was a hectic day. My hubby and I went to take care of my BIL while my SIL went to the doctors for follow-up appointments for her thyroid and diabetes. We got good news that her conditions are improving and she lost 30 pounds! Then there was more good news when the visiting nurse came. She let us know a nurse would take care of my BIL 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, starting next week. This will be a relief for everyone (especially my SIL and her hubby and daughter) as we've all been scrambling throughout the summer to be there.
After that, my hubby and I went to my parents to go to a church carnival with the kids. What a great time we had!! When we entered, everyone wanted to try the raffle cards. I never gamble but decided to spend a dollar. My dad raised his eyebrows and I told him I felt lucky but would never waste more than a dollar on a feeling. If I was meant to win, I'd win with a single buck.
I bought four tickets for a dollar and let my kids open them. My son won 50 bucks! We were so thrilled. He kept 5 dollars and decided to give me the rest to have the time of our lives at the carnival (he knew we were on a limited budget). He's a great kid and very lucky, too ;)
We partied until the carnival closed! Delicious food, exciting rides, plenty of prayerful people and excellent music (the local rock band did awesome cover versions of Billy Joel, The Police, etc.) We had the time of our lives and it's taken two days to recuperate, LOL :)
How is your Labor Day weekend going?

My labor day hasn't really started yet. We are taking the kids to the local man-made beach to have a picnic. My FIL is in town. So he brought a small portable grill for the family and some groceries to bat. Gotta love that. My wife is doing my daughters hair and he is putting the grill together. I'm gathering and other online stuff till it's time to go.
Plan to share pics when we get back.
Glad to hear the great news on your SIL & BIL as well!
We've had a busy weekend, but it's all just been local stuff here (well, within 30 miles). Saturday we went to the zoo and a park that has a free water play area. Yesterday we went to this car thing, where they had classic cars on display, and a display of old military vehicles. We also went grocery shopping. Today we went to get the part for my husband's truck that he broke yesterday. lol All his hard work this weekend has paid off, though, and the truck is finally up and running again. :)
