I have been following the current uproar over the planned address/speech by President Obama that is aimed at school children and an attempt to encourage America’s children to succeed. For the majority the supposed reason behind the anti-movement against the President’s planned speech is the liberal agenda and so-called indoctrination of our children that is behind it. If having my future step-son told he can succeed to be anything if he studies and works hard enough is a liberal idea, than I will proudly wear that title and will offer him up to be indoctrinated without skipping a beat.
As to for the parents who have made plans to pull their child from school or will make sure they do not hear the speech, they remind me of the pictures, I have seen of KKK mothers and fathers who are carrying around their infant child dressed in small versions of the hoods they wear while dancing around a burning cross. Now this might be wrong for me to think, but it is the image that comes to mind just the same.
For a great portion of those opposing the speech, it really has nothing to do with the content but more with who is giving the speech. Their rationality behind their opposition is nothing but a smoke screen. I wonder how will history paint these Speech Opposers, will they be vindicated or perhaps they will end up in the same pages as the idiots who ran in the streets during the night after listening to Orson Wells on their radios and his War of the Worlds telecast.
I guess will just have to wait to find the answer.

Do you REALLY need the president to tell your children to go to school, brush your teeth, etc? Are you not capable of raising and being your child's role model/mentor? Or is it just more convenient to give that responsibilty to Obama. Or maybe you want your kids to view Obama in the same way as Mr. Rogers, or Captain Kangaroo or even Santa Clause? Think about it!
Please explain to me why you think the president of this country should take the time to address OUR children on these issues?
