Hello all. Hope you all had a great day doing whatever it was that you were doing. I personally went to work. I only had a four hour shift, though, so I was happy :)
Today was a farely simple day, full of returns, exchanges and credit applications. It was pretty fun to talk to all of the customers and see how much I was contributing to everyone's day. I hope I made them smile, atleast a little bit.
Nothing really great happened today. But, as it is Sunday, we close at 7pm instead of 9. As I was sitting outside awaiting my ride, a lady and her son pulled up in a truck. She suddenly realized that we were closed. By this time it was atleast quarter to eight. I talked to her to see if there was anything I could do for her. I soon found out that she had driven over an hour away to pick up her washer and dryer, had already paid for her items, and needed to bring them home. I felt so bad for her. I went back inside and asked the managers if there was any way that we could help her. Unfortunately, we had already closed completely, the entire computer system had shut down, and there was no way to get her purchase.
I felt horrible, and she had no choice but to drive the hour back home, only to try again tomorrow. Luckily, we will be open on Labor Day, but I still wish we could have helped her. It is unfortunate that she got there so late. We're always trying to provide better customer service, but this is one case we just could not win. I feel so bad, and only hope that it won't happen too often in the future.
