We woke up this morning to a rare morning thunderstorm.

I was really surprised to wake up this morning to thunder, followed by heavy rain for just a little while. We don't get much thunder here in the Phoenix area. Even in monsoon season the rain usually comes in the late afternoon or evening. It was a great day with lots of clouds all day and it never got above 88 degrees. That sure is nice after the past few months of 105 to 110 or more degrees.

Here are some pictures I took of our rain and clouds today (Sat 9/5).

I remember the rare thunderboomers we used to get in New Mexico when we lived there. However, when it did rain, it usually rained hard and the streets flooded. Here in Florida, it rains almost every day during the summer. I am actually sick of the rain.

Wow rare? Thunderstorms are very common here.

Yes, it is rare here, too. We have a few months during the summer where we get monsoon storms that build up for hours and then blow thru quickly. The rest of the year we get few storms and very little rain. I enjoy rain and storms when we get them, but even more I like having dry streets and good weather to drive in most of the time.
