As my husband and I look at our financial picture this weekend, we eagerly await our next paychecks so that we can pay our mortgage and cable/phone/internet bill. We also spent a little money so our youngest boy could have a birthday outing. That zapped our grocery fund for this week. So we are going to make do with what we have this upcoming week. In lieu of actual grocery shopping, then, since I am unable to right now, I am writing about it!
It's not a tragedy or anything -- we have plenty here to make do with. There are people out there who literally have nothing, and no paycheck to look forward to. So I am not complaining. But this is a tight time. And so I am in a mode of gathering for some groceries. Those Target gc's do come in handy, even if Target charges a little more for basic household items sometimes. This morning I used my last Target gc from Gather to buy a present for a sleepover party my daughter is going to tonight, and to buy a larger pair of pants, as this new baby is already growing my belly and the ones I have are getting too snug too fast!
So please say a little prayer for us. God will provide -- He has never let me down! It's a bit scary because we need to pay for the pregnancy out of pocket -- my insurance is okay but has a $5,000 deductible. The ob/gyn will run us around $3,500. The anesthesiologist will run us about $1,000. Not to mention that now we need a new van. We are looking at 12-passenger since they are about $1,000 cheaper than a 9 passenger and would make it easier for the kids to get around each other, allow room for a friend, sports equipment, etc.
So a bit stressful but we will make it through this time. I have about 860 points -- so less than halfway to the next Gather gift card. We really could use it, so I hope I'll be able to share some new photos with you before the holiday weekend is over!

BTW when I was giving birth a little more than six weeks ago, I felt like screaming for the anesthesiologist. I had asked my husband to remind me about the bill though, but of course he did not.....instead I asked the nurse to remind me that I did not want an epidural...when it came to that point. She did, and even though it was horrible at the time, I forgot all about the pain when I held my little baby in my arms....and I am so happy we are getting no bills from the anesthesiologist.
I Gather for my utility bills. I trade Amazon dollars to my son so that he can buy books and DVDs cheaper there and he pays that much on the utilities. I also use the CVS gift card to buy groceries and gifts.
What would we do without Gather?
Well we decided on Hamburgers, maybe not cheper but easier to do and clean up. Everyone still wants to come, so a special trip is now being made. We really cant afford the gas or food either. Have to charge most of it.
we make due with what we got and just keep on living.
hope you can find a van!
good luck!
I had already forgotten reading your post about being pregnant :)
I am really close...61 pt as of this morning for my next $25 paypal cashout...but I have the paypal debit card so I can use my paypal anywhere with the card.
Our well-trained midwife was a lot cheaper than an ob/gyn and a hospital (we had two at home after our first's hospital birth). Can they practice in your state? It's so much nicer to give birth at home, more affordable, more personal, and the midwives are trained to watch for any problems that might develop, that they are unequipped to handle.
I hope things look up for you and your family. I have been there and done that and got the toaster oven to boot, since I was a child. I'll be saying a prayer for you.
As for me, I'll be on gather a lot more, because my husband's hours haven't been restored like we hoped they would be this September, so we need the gift cards as well to keep us out of debt. You do what you have to do to keep your family afloat!
