My name is Kiki and I am 7yrs old. My birthday is February 5th. I was chosen to get a journal called The Daily Doodle written by Janet Mentore Lee, PH.D. I really like her book because it lets me draw pictures of the people, places and things that I like. On each page, there is a topic that I can draw or write about. I always write the date at the top of the page. So far I have drawn three pictures for September. One picture is of me going outside. I drew another picture of me and my mom going to my Grandmom's house with my purple Bratz suitcase. I got it for my 6th birthday and it has wheels. The last picture is of me eating a piece of chocolate. I love chocolate! The journal is for children ages 4-7 and I would buy this for all of my friends. If you buy this book, I hope you like it.

Parent's Note: From the clothes she wears to her thoughts about the world around her, Kiki loves to express herself and give her opinion. Include her love for drawing and she was the perfect reviewer for Janet's book. At first glance, I thought the journal was just a glorified coloring book. But upon closer inspection I realized it was so much more than that.
After reading "A Special Note to Kids", Kiki was ready to get started. She isn't into writing much and was elated that drawing was an option. She loves the book and I had to remind her that it was a DAILY journal and that I thought she shouldn't try to fill in all of the pages at once. Kiki's previous journal experiences have been at school in a controlled environment. With "The Daily Doodle", she gets to choose her daily topic and she is allowed to be as creative as she wants to be.
"The Daily Doodle" is recommended for ages 4-7 but Janet mentioned that she's working on her second book, "The Daily Doodle: A Journal for Children Ages 7-10". I will be looking for it because I think it would be more appropriate for Kiki's maturity level.

It seems like a very nice book and I am glad you liked it :)
Who needs the "Reading Rainbow" when you have this?!
I always liked drawing better than handwriting too
