I found this on eBay yesterday.
I have just the right spot for it on my wall.
It is a memory dear and ancient,
of a life long left behind.
I stood out front waiting school buses,
and ate many meals in the diner.
Here I was stung by a wasp behind the ear
and never seeing a hospital or a doctor survived.
It is gone now,
not even the diner still remaining.
But in my mind and heart it endures,
as 'the place up the street', fondly remembered
For in nineteen fifty six,
carried in, in Mom's arms asleep,
we stayed our first night in Florida.
And I woke in hardscrabble paradise.

I mean, it was almost 19th century . :)
in 1956 this was a double A motel.. FAR better than some of the "tourist cabins" we had stayed in on the way from Colorado.
wow and yikes, al capone.......not a neighbor I think I would want to have...even if it was just his mama....what if you accidently walked across her lawn......
