Don't be afraid of thrift stores - I get almost all of my clothes there, and they're all designer names!

We shopped at thrift stores all the time when my kids were younger. Now that they are older, we can't find clothes for them there. We still get other items, like books though.

Shop yard sales, good will, and any other discount store for clothing items. Many times you can find new items in these places or items that pass off as new. Also clip those coupons.

I have really gotten into coupons, sales items, clearance racks and buy one get one items. If you find a $1, or $2 coupon on items....then see them on sale, you can pay next to nothing for some items. I recieved a $2.50 coupon by mail, the item was on sale for 2.74....do the math, I got a Bounce dryer bar starter kit for .24 cents!!!
I love clearance racks and coupons. Being the only one paying my bills with no help from state or anyone,,,,,I have to save every dime I can and I do make it work!!

My favorite tip for living large on a small budget is to find all of the FREE family-friendly events in your neighborhood. Story time at libraries, concerts in the park, street fairs or just going to the playground- all are free and tons of fun. Plus you get to meet other parents which is always a plus for busy moms!

freecycle is great for keeping the budget in check. thrift stores, garage sales, mom2mom sales. consignment shops are great for shopping & also buying.

coupons, coupons, coupons....especially going out to eat. buy one entree get one free!!

buying food & household staples in bulk & sharing the expense with family or friends.

Coupons and doing the Extra Cash Back at CVS and the Single Check Rebate at Rite Aid. I really haven't paid for any health and beauty aids in a long time. Every week those two stores have items that end up being free.

at the end of each season you can find some fabulous pieces at thrift stores and flea markets. i can spend all day in a thrift store putting pieces together to expand my wardrobe.

Besides all the ones that have already been mentioned....product testing!!! I rarely have any money to spend on myself, but I still have a cabinet filled with name brand perfumes, anti-aging lotions and more:)
Find restaurants were kids eat cheap or free. There are a lot if you look! Around here, kids eat free at Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Sundays, free at TGI Friday's on Wednesdays, and for $.99 at Applebee's on Tuesdays. That way you can still go out to eat one in awhile without breaking the bank!

I put my kids stuff that is too small for them in consignment sales, then use the money to get their new school clothes.

I also do product testing, couponing, and other things....samples are good too...free is good.

Coupons in addition to clearance/sale prices! I also shop off season and pay a fraction of the cost. I buy all of my kids clothing at atleast 75% up to 90% off for the following season, it's wonderful!

Ship at thrift stores and 99 cent stores! You can find some pretty cool stuff for some really reasonable prices!

Don't go shopping unless absolutely needed. Sometimes I think women go shopping because they have an innate need to gather. So if you feel the need to gather set up a party with your friends where everyone brings things they are tired of, don't fit, or no longer have room for. Then exchange items with your friends.

If you do go shopping take a list and don't go hungry!

My favorite way to live on a budget is to shop at thrift stores and yard sales. YOu can find so many neat things there like clothes, household items, even stuff that is great for presents! Check to see if your local thrift store has sale days. My favorite thrift store has a sale every Saturday. Everything under a buck is half off and everything over is thirty percent off

I buy our clothes on Ebay or at yard/garage sales or thrift shops. I use grocery coupons in conjunction with sales. Freecycle!!!
