After having been somewhat otherwise occupied melting in the desert and fairly absent for almost 2 weeks, I figured this was a good post to start with and let's be honest, here's my selfish reasons for doing it at all, lol!
Here's how it works:
Copy this entire post and paste it into a new post to share on Gather. Answer the questions below and post your survey to the group To-Do Divas and any other relevant communities you are a member of. Include the tag real me survey when you share your survey and Real Me Survey in the title of your post.
Share your survey by September 18th and you could win Gather Points™! Twenty participants who follow the directions from my original post (Stefanie Plum) will be drawn by Gather to receive 20 Gather Points™ each!
So...........y'all really think you're ready for this??
Here goes, and remember, you read on, no one made you!!
The Real Me Survey:
My personality
The song to best describe me is: Song?? Just one? No way, not possible, but I'll keep it down to two (just for this), there are just too many of me, lol
Otis Redding "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" it's always brought me peace and is kind of true, just substitute on 'a Rock in the Desert'.
Greenday "She's a Rebel"
Today those work, tomorrow they change.......
Using the acronym R.E.A.L., four words to describe me are:
Restive, Ebullient, Aberrant, Larky
People I’m close to say I’m:
Straightforward
When you first meet me, you’ll think I’m:
Completely insane =~P
My goals
My proudest moment is: Giving birth to my son, watching him become a man
In ten years, I’d like to say I’ve: Done no harm, helped where I could and never turned down an opportunity to live
If I could teach someone else a skill of mine, it would be: to not take life so seriously as it isn't permanent and live each moment as if your last, there is no later, only now............
If I could learn something new, it would be: Again, only one?? Okies, well, to play the guitar.......today, that will do
My favorite things
If I was stuck on an island with food and water, I’d also bring: My kitty Smokey of course, books and a fully loaded MP3 or I ain't goin'!
If I could plan my last meal, it would be: A heart attack blue plate special, YAY!! Many fried things, potatoes (crispy brown!), chicken, breaded pork chops, lobster with drawn butter, pan fried perch in lemon butter, onion rings (battered, not breaded), sauerbraten, sauteed mushrooms in garlic-wine sauce, deviled crab, german potato salad, wilted lettuce, amish mac'n cheese with stewed tomatoes, kapusta, pierogi and sour cream, Woo Dip Har, veal picatta, lasagna........oh, just bring me a big ole bite of everything with some tiramisu for desert, I adore food!!!! =~D
If I could go on a $10,000 shopping spree anywhere, it would be: Minneapolis I'm thinking if that's where that Super Mall is then we get everything, lol, otherwise if just one place I'd settle for Clear Choice Dental Center. Me, my sister, my roomie and my best friend could all use a good set of choppers!!
My favorite gift card from Gather is: These days if and when I can get something it's gonna have to be cash, needs to eat. Back in the day I preferred Targets, good stuff!!!
Wishful thinking:
If I could live in any time and place, it would be: Got to say now, and here, it's where my life is and I don't want to miss it really, only get the one go. So far it's at the very least been interesting..........
If I could live the life of someone else for one day, it would be: One day? Everyone's got problems and guessin I'm best used to mine own, but one day probs make me grateful to have my sorry life back! Let's go with The first lady, Michelle O'bama, that cannot be boring (besides, she's pretty!)
My perfect escape is: Me, my kitty, my MP3 loaded, camera fully charged, a good book and a few beers on a deserted beach!
If I had a genie in a bottle (and couldn't have anymore wishes) I would ask for: Nothing but Peace, been askin since I was 2, prospects don't look so good....
Random Fact:
A random fact about me is:
Once upon a time, in a life far away and far removed I used to be a
Nurse!

I read the whole thing, I'll be waiting for my cookie. :)
So, what kind of cookie you like?
Know what you mean though, brought shortbread home Scotland myself and got pulled out of line and shook down!! Well, there was some actual Scotch as well, but all on the up and up I assure you!
I don't have a recipe for the cookies, all i know is that I have to go back every 5 years to get more bags. :) Next summer, will be that time.
Thank Goodness, you didn't have to drink all of the scotch before your crossed the customs line. Was it Glen livit?
It was Glen Livit alright, 12 years old, and darn good thing I didn't have to drink it! Can't hold my liquor at all, it was gifts for the men in my family, I've never even tasted it!
I know, been remiss too long, lettin the heat get to me and workin pretty on Ebay only. Trying to get back caught up and quit being a wussy, otherwise doin fine!
that last meal of yours....dang girl, that's a whole lotta food!!!!
i like that you're real & that you live in the moment!! it's refreshing.
i gave up my nursing license back in 2000; couldn't afford to keep going to school for my ceu's to renew the license. :)
And on the food, I wasn't done, but figured ya got the idea. Whenever asked my fave food all I can ever say is "Good!" cause I just don't got the heart to diss one over another, lol
As for real, I ain't perfect enough to be any different and when you survive you tend to relish moments
Thanks for reading and commenting
I pretty much gave up nursing when I gave birth, Jan. '95, though I didn't know it then, it would take another 6 months or so and I just didn't have the heart to be anything but mom anymore. NO REGRETS, never had the one, best decision I ever made
I really like you Ruth and all you've said here. I could eat right along with you except my meal would be broiled or baked since I can't handle fried. But all your ingredients I love.
Thanks for the great read. And yes your kitty is beautiful My sister and brother in law have three and a hobo kitty who they let in when it comes mewing at the door, goes around sniffing, eats from their kitties's bowls then wants out again. It makes return visits every day.
actually I don't need a cookie, your post was great and i enjoyed it!
Hope you enjoyed your time away melting in the desert.
welcome back!
ooops, the random factoid---I didn't know that........
I like 'homemade' chocolate chip cookies and I'll have one of everything you want for your last meal too......it seems we both have a real love of food......
Horray!! Chocolate chip rocks, that's desert then, when we gonna eat?? Why wait, we're alive NOW!! =~P
CONGRATS on your new job... Best wishes...
