started by his brother John F. Kennedy. This message is for all of you who believe in the greatness that was JFK and for all of you who try to use supply-side-economics as a disparaging phrase and claim that Ronald Reagan was an unsuitable President of the time.It is a post that highlights the words of J.F.K. and proves that all of you who joke about tax cuts for anyone who is not below poverty line being inappropriate are ridiculous people with no sense of history or grasp of the economic reality which America is now at the crossroads of.
If you liked JFK and still think kindly of him but have a problem with supply-side economics than you are either a hypocrite or just a tool of liberal propagandist who try to rewrite history and deny the truth.
The video that I am about to introduce to you uses phrases like “a tax cut creating more jobs and income and eventually more revenue”. It introduces references to taxation that state lower taxes “will create more jobs and more spending and more customers and more growth for an expanding U.S. economy”. All of which are statements and facts that are lost on the current ruling regime in Washington, D.C..
These are not my words or the words of Jack Kemp, Newt Gingrich or Ronald Reagan . They are the words of John Fitzgerald Kennedy as he spoke of attempts to cut off deficit spending and avoid a recession.
They are the words of a Kennedy who believed in a government that did not make decisions for Americans but rather made it possible for Americans to afford to make their own decisions.
The words spoken in the video below are the words of a Democrat that is far removed from the contemporary policies of the modern day Democrat Party. Yet the Democrat who spoke these words is hailed as one of our greatest Presidents by many who call themselves Democrats today. But despite their praise and respect for JFK, they seek to canonize his youngest brother who spent decades opposing the stated beliefs of the iconic JFK.
And the same people who praise President Kennedy also praise President Obama even though every single economic policy that he seeks to enact runs counter to the economic beliefs of the Kennedy who was President.
So I ask you, please spend the next two minutes listening to a man whose legacy has proven to be everlasting and think for a moment about how far today’s Democrat leaders have come from the legendary leaders that they had in the forefront of their party only a few decades ago.

By 1960, they had a grand total of 327 personnel. That ramped up quickly under the new administration. It was under JFK that we ended up with over 15k men there by his death and under LBJ the first US combat formations were sent.
Selective in the sense that it supports the very things were are doing wrong and that are hurting the country as virtues. Selective and deleterious.
It really does not matter who started Viet Nam, it was the anti-Communist furor that brought it about. The idea that a war could be sold to the American people to suck money away from the country's needs to be used to stem a threat from communism that did not exist. This pattern started at the end of WWII, and oe McCarthy was the first to make use of it, and we still have it today.
This spare no cost to oppose Communism led the dumping trillions of dollars into war machinery that would never be used, and death and destruction that was only beneficial to the arms sellers and defense contractors, and continues today as we out spend the whole rest of the world in military might, a military might that is useless as we see we could not affect Viet Nam and it is very questionable that we will be able to control Iran/Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan etc.
For a fraction of a fraction of that cost, just as an experiment we could be sending food and educators to some of these countries and building up goodwill that could never be undercut instead of the legacy of killing millions of people's relatives and turning them against us with a wrath equal to the USSR.
Communism was not a threat? With or without McCarthy, both parties sure thought so. Of course some of the varying Communist actions might have given them some reason to think so too.
Great Post!
As for Kennedy's desire to cut taxes, it may come as a surprise to the Right, but I'd be willing to bet that most Democrats actually like tax cuts if they benefit from them from time to time and if it makes fiscal sense for the country.
Reagan inherited a a Dem majority of LBJ type Dems and a Repub party that wanted it's share of pork denied for decades. Much like the Dems of today, when given a chance to spend other people's money they went overboard. Also one might forget the problems of the Cold war and rearming a military that desperately needed it. Never mind bringing inflation down from 13+ percent to less than 3 after some years of bad times.
In nominal dollars maybe you have grounds for your statement on deficits under Reagan but in real terms, Reagan did not hold a candle to FDR, LBJ, Bush II, or Obama. Inflation has devalued the dollar so much that it takes almost 2 dollars to make one of the Depression Era. That kind of deflates the easy side by side comparison of the different eras.
If your theory that most Dems liked tax cuts held true, then given amount of Dem majority control in the House/Senate over the last 80 years, we should have seen lots of it. The fact that the few Dem tax cuts offered have been targeted and small sure does not support it.
Just because the right would sell their own children for another tax cut for the rich doesn't make it the right choice for the country. Again, if you listen to Kennedy he said that cutting personal and corporate taxes when there was no recession was a good idea. Another point that should be considered is that the nation was coming out of a time (during the Eisenhower administration) when the highest personal income tax rate was 90%.
This video clip is just more Right Wingnut propaganda. Words taken out of context. What has gotten boring to the extreme is how reckless and obvious and wrong the Right has become as they cling desperately to what little power they have. Ho Hum indeed!
The chief problem is that one party looks at tax cuts as all healing and the other side thinks the cow is always ready for more squeezing. Its coming to head they are both at least partially wrong.
R.F. Reagan inherited from liberal Carter:
21%- INTREST-RATES
14%- INFLATION- RATES
14% - UNEMPLOYMENT
Real income fell for the average American family from 1977 through 1981.
The miracle of the 80's---was unprecedented economic growth and prosperity. R.T. over 20 million jobs were created- real, long term jobs in private sector.-Not the kind of "public" make-work government jobs{short-term} taxpayer-rip-off jobs like Obama is doing.
Reagan was a great leader- made Americans fell proud of their country. Reagan, did not shy away from taking on the enemies of freedom, Reagan did not travel the globe apologizing for America like Obama does every chance he gets.
The Evil Empire was evil- Tare down that Evil Wall, Mr. Com-my-Gorbachev.
Ronald Reagan was a man of principle and a brilliant vision for the world..50 million people in Eastern Europe got their freedom.
Ronald Reagan was a true leader who brought this country together and accomplished great things, History is on his side R.T.- !! 49 STATES VOTED FOR THE gipper!
The rate of job loss today is slowing and a consensus is growing that the economy is on the road to recovery. Jobs are always the last economic indicator to improve. The only time they didn't markedly improve after a recession was during baby bush's administration. Obama is having success no matter what Fox tells you.
Ha Ha. That's not true and you know it.
Yes. I know. baby bush's financial disaster is his parting gift that just keeps giving. Like I said though, Obama is fixing things up. It's just taking time. Any reasonable person wouldn't expect Obama to fix the worst financial disaster since the great depression in mere months.
According to numbers I've seen, this mess is on line with the Carter/Reagan recession, not the Great Depression. Exaggerating it may make Obama look slightly better but it's looking like poor history.
As for falling back into recession, the primary reason for that would be if we didn't spend enough. This mess was cooked up long before Obama got in office. He has put us into tremendous debt. To deny that is to deny reality. But I believe his policies are working. And if they're left over policies of bush, so be it.
Van Jones working on solving the problem.
R.F., Barack Hussein Obama Jr's. magical wax wings have melted, he is the man who fell to earth.
What happened to bring the magnificent leaders popularity down further than that of any new president in polling history?.
Bigots and people frightened by the right wing nut media's fear mongering lies.
So excited just can't wait for the 120th speech on Obamcare.
I also heard that Bush used Commy-Van, to blow up the Trade-Towers- Bush did that you know. Nora.
Who controlled Congress when Reagan was President? Who did not oppose tax cuts because they knew they would be slaughtered at election time if they opposed the President? Who refused to cut any of the spending that Reagan wanted? The answer is DEMOCRATS.
Now, who proposed to cut taxes and cut spending? Who left office with more jobs in America then there were when he came into office? Who obliterated the misery index? Who reduced the rate of inflation by more than half? Who strengthened the economy to the point where interest rates and their incredible burdens came down by more than half? Who brought the Soviet Union to their knees and forced them to end communism? Who freed the people of Poland and a dozen other countries from communist oppression? Who brought down the Berlin Wall and unified Germany? Who took the American economy and grew it rather than made it contract? Who delivered America out of the Democrats "Days of malaise?.
The answer is Ronald Reagan.
Under Reagan the deficit would not have been nearly as big as it was had Democrats not opposed the spending cuts that Reagan proposed with his tax cuts. And as for your blatant lie about Reagan raising taxes to the extent that you try to have people believe, there are many slights of hand that can use statistical data that takes tax revenues and claim that because of a greater amount of taxes that were paid, Reagan increased taxes. But the truth is that taxes were not raised. The government did still collect more in taxes in his first four years in office than Jimmy Carter's did in his four years in office. However that greater tax revenue was not due to higher taxes it was due to the fact that Americans were making more revenue. More companies were making profits that were taxed. More Americans were earning incomes and more Americans were making more money and so there again more tax revenue was being generated because there were more income and profits to tax. This was despite the fact that taxes were lower..
So you can try to act like an INTELEKTCHEWAL but you are actually a lying, hypocritical, ignorant ass who is an obnoxious, single-minded, liberal, filled with hate and possessing a total and utter disconnect from reality.
As for your claim that nobody is listening to what JFK said……ARE YOU ON DRUGS!!?
Who wasn’t listening, accept for you!? No one specified when taxes should be cut but I did refer to the logic which Kennedy used, and then that Reagan used in their reasoning for tax cuts. It is a logic that Kennedy, who is praised by liberals used but that liberals assail Reagan for. POINT 1.- That is hypocrisy.
Secondly, if YOU listened to what JFK said, you would understand that he was not suggesting tax cuts during a recession because the lack of revenue being generated during one might not help. So by thinking, if there is less revenue being generated during a recession and because of that, the government can’t afford to cut taxes and take in even less revenue, than why would it be smart for the government to spend more money at a time of recession, when government is not taking in enough revenue? That amounts to the creation of a greater deficit. It is also what President Obama is doing. So while you blame and chastise Reagan for deficits, you praise Obama for his quadrupling our deficit (and in just 8 months time, I might add). POINT 2.- That is hypocrisy.
So as I make my point twice, in case you didn’t get it, in summary you are a HYPOCRITE. A lying , obnoxious, ignorant, hypocrite.
So go crawl back under the rock you grew under and get a personality, an education, a clue and fact. Then try to make some sense of things.
Treating these people with a kind shoulder of let's get along is over.
Their predictable name-calling is being ignored- these socialist liberals are on the defensive- Keep up the Attacks!!
First, in general the economics theory says in good times you raise taxes to create a buffer for bad times, build and maintain infrastructure, expand education and the workforce, and in bad times you may deficit spend to jumpstart growth and jobs and help people who need it.
Kennedy's actions in that context were warranted and responsible. The top marginal tax rates used to be much higher than they are today, and after Kennedy they were probably about right. Kennedy did not cut taxes too much or start huge budget deficits with his tax cuts either.
Reagan cut taxes way too much, and ran up what was the biggest deficit and debt in American history. Something Bush I did not remedy, and it fell on Clinton to oppose fiscal responsibility which he was able to do.
Then we had Bush II who both cut taxes and raised spending and brought about the current disaster the country faces now. The other thing that tax cuts are not funding growth or jobs in America, they are funding slave labor globally, and sucking what's left of the money in America out and dropping America's living standards and educational system and infrastructure for the global benefit of a few who claim they are helping the country. When America is broke we will see either rising prices and inflation, or falling prices and deflation but unless we focus on the American middle class we will not have it back and the nature of the country will change to be more like Russia or China.
I live in NY State, the highest taxed state in America, if taxation were the end all, why is my state NY- bankrupt, Kalfornia huge taxation of the people -bankrupt.
Bruce, at some point you have to face reality, the middle class working family is being punished by government taxes and fees, if you confiscated all the wealth of the evil rich- took all the profits of the evil corporations, and raised the tax rate to 60% of a person salary-Bruce, what you would wind-up with is Cuba-Venezuela- or some other socialist failed and bankrupted nation.
How come Obama-Pelosi-Dodd-Kennedy's-Edwards-Clinton's- are all millionaires-why don't these progressive caring compassionate liberal --Phonies- have so much wealth in their bank accounts- its o=kay for the Socialist elites to be wealthy- I get it.
We don't want to invest in infrastructure because it will be paying illegal aliens ... which really means all the non-white people the government under the influence of corporations have let into the country.
We don't want to have national health care because it would mean paying for all the damage we inflict on our own people, but particularly all the cheap and ignorant labor that we import.
Micky, dump the rhetoric of -
* "paying high taxes"
* "bacnkrupt states"
* "confiscating wealth"
* "Cuba Venezuela"
All these arguments you pose .... and by the way, if you are resonding to my post why don't you do it in the right box so I see it and can respond back ... are the wrong arguments designed to tweak people's fear of loss and being taken advantage of about taxes. The real force that takes advantage of us has been the corporations. They have consolidated power and avoided being found out for so long now that we have an emergency on our hands now and our govenrnment does not work. Not because government is bad, but because the corporations do not want a regulatory entity above them telling them what to do ... and behind the corporations are the very wealthy.
The issue is fixing the problems. To the middle class and the country the problem is getting ready for global warming. Fixing the environment. Fixing health care. Building infrastructure so that we do not have Katrina-like disasters. Fixing education. Putting people to work. Helping people to retire. All kinds of problems that we look to government to manage - government - supposed to mean WE THE PEOPLE.
To the rich is it to dismiss any activity but their own whims. All the people who are now in charge want is more power and more money, and they do not acknowledge any resonsiblity towards fixing the problems of the country, because they consider that only they actually are the country. They treat the American people as corporations have always treated indigenous people ... as either labor, or a giant pain in the ass who are mostly in the way.
