Marie was very close with her grandma and every visit was precious and special. Her most fond memories were of those special baked chocolate chip cookies with an aroma never to be forgotten. It still is now her favorite snack at the age of 30 when most adults forgot about what they grew up with. Marie moved out of mom’s house to find an apartment of her own as she unpacked her belongings both necessary and personal. She just remembered a large sugar canister that she filled up the day before and needed it for her morning coffee. The drive back to mom’s house was only fifteen minutes away, so Marie made the trip. Her mother stood there with the canister in her hand as if she already knew what her daughter had forgotten. "Bye mom, I'll see you next weekend," she said. Marie placed the full sugar canister on the kitchen counter for the next morning to be ready for her morning coffee. At 9 a.m. the next morning the coffee brewed and was finally ready. The sugar canister seemed to look a lot older and had a different design on it. Marie picked it up and it was extremely light considering it was once full with sugar. Suddenly the kitchen filled with an aroma of baked chocolate chip cookies. She opened the lid to find a piece of handwritten paper from another time that described grandma’s secret recipe. They both sat together at the kitchen table and chatted about old times. Marie thanked her grandma for a precious and special visit. She sat quietly at the kitchen table and sipped on her coffee along with grandmas chocolate chip cookies.... On loves path we take a memory and a canister of what was supposed to be sugar. Then we blend it with love and a visit from those who so touched our lives before. My name is Marie, would you like to come in and try grandma’s chocolate chip cookies?
