The Word For The Day - September 1, 2009

I John 5:14 & 15 - This is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him; (we are sure) that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan - which is found in His Word), He listens to and hears us.  And, if (since) we positively know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know with settled and absolute knowledge that we have granted us as our present possessions the requests made of Him.

This morning as I was praying for some financial needs I have at the moment, I turned to this scripture as well as several others to stand on regarding my needs and desires.  The Lord reminded me during that time that according to Galatians 3:29 that I'm an heir to the promise of Abraham and that it's not because of anything I've done or will do that motivates God to provide for my need and desires and wants.  It is because of the covenants He made with Abraham and with Jesus that we have a right to come boldly to the throne of God and request our needs and desires. 

The enemy may try to convince us we don't deserve what we are requesting but God is not motivated to provide or not provide based on our worthiness.  We are saved by grace through faith and that is the same way we receive healing and financial help and anything else we need in this life. 

Our job is to refuse to listen to the lies of the enemy when he says we aren't going to get our healing or our finances or our deliverance.  Jesus already paid the price for everything we need whether it be physically, financially, mentally or emotionally.  We have to keep our eyes on Him for our needs, wants, desires and happiness.  We cannot look to what we see in this world because everything in this world is temporary and subject to change.

So, if you have a need today, go to the Word and find the promise that addresses it and stand on it based on what Jesus did not on who you are or what you have or have not done.  And, expect Him to do what He has said.  After all, Isaiah 55:11 says that His Word will not return void but must accomplish what it says it will.
