A man in Britain believes he is the owner of the world's oldest cat! Jim Cowell received the cat 36 years ago. Tizzie was found by some railroad tracks by a couple and was given to Jim's mother to take care of. This photograph taken in 1975 shows Jim's mother and Tizzie.
Jim is hoping that the news of his story will cause the couple that found the feline to come forward and help verify Tizzie's age, which the veternarian's office has no record of. In human years Tizzie would be 160 years old! I wonder what her secret is...

All I see in the post is that Jim Cowell received the cat 36 years ago. Does Jim still have this cat now? Is it still alive now? I know that's the implication, but we need specific confirmation the claimed facts first.
The post is confusing because it says that Jim's mother got the cat from someone. Did Jim then get the cat from his mother? Did Jim get the cat 36 years ago, or did his mother actually get the cat 36 years ago?
Veterinary science is quite advanced these days and a good vet could affirm the cat's approximate age from various features upon a thorough examination. I'd figure, if this isn't a hoax, that the very first place to go for age confirmation is to the vet!
Interesting story in any case!
At 36, this cat would be way past twice the average age of cats. Perhaps the cat has had no mishaps and is now capitalizing on his original 9 lives for extra years, eh? :-)
