Summary of Summer
Well friends it's been a long time since I've written anything for Gather. Life has been a series of ups and downs but, as usual I've been able to muddle through. With Autumn's approach I'm hoping life settles a bit, slows down to a pace where I can get through a day without some kind of stress.
Late winter brought health concerns for my DH. Troubles on the job, missed corners and what happened yesterday were just a few of the early warning signs. After several trips to our physician and diagnostic tests it was determined he'd had a mini-stroke. I can now report he's doing much, much better, back to normal.
Early Spring brought more troubles, family troubles. It was a sad day around here when we were forced to tell the ex-daughter-in-law she HAD to move. There are only so many lies and so much selfishness two old people people can take. We knew the consequences of her leaving as my grandson left too. This was hard, so hard but, we've adjusted and moved on.
On the 30th of June we made our annual trip home/north to Minnesota. The first few days were spent in the Metro area, gads I detest driving there! Cars, missed cloverleafs and traffic jams. (thank goodness for GPS). The reason we were there was to attend the wedding of my son, Will and his new bride, Alyce.

Notice all the kids? Alyce has four, Will has one, which means I became an instant Grandma to FIVE!! I'm sooooooo blessed!! :))
Leaving the hub-bub of the city behind we headed toward home, SW Minnesota, arriving just in time for the pea harvest at my Mom's farm. What a great 24 hours that was! 14 loads of peas equaling almost a half million pounds of peas.
Home also means heading over to the farm where my daughter, Christine and her DH lives. Will and Alyce brought the kids and had a bit of fun exploring the barn.

Ya can't go to Minnesota without eating hotdish at a picnic!!

Or making a visit to what I consider my hometown, Wanda, MN (population 101). Notice all the cars in town? The locals told me one of the locals passed on and there was a funeral lunch going on at the Wanda Legion, this also means the population is now 100.

We also made a stop at one of the giant skyscrapers which dot the horizons in rural Minnesota. (Rowena Community Elevator).

My heart sank as I observed the long forgotten New Avon Town Hall. ( I used to cast my election ballot here)
We also took the time to get my Mamma hooked up to the Internet after helping her purchase a brand new Toshiba laptop.

And watched her mators grow...

Momma's kitty cat describes my feelings whenever I return home; comfortable, relaxed, safe, quiet, serene and loved.

I'm ready to return............

Ok now about that lil Cajun man - girl, stress is what brought that on and once you get that under control, then drink lots of water and make that gumbo with olive oil - I know he must miss his cajun home too so why haven't yall been down here lately? I am leaving on Nov 11th but have been down in St. mary Parish the whole time except for going to Nawlins and Lafayette and New Iberia a few times.
