Yesterday we decided to go to the mall. We hadn't been to it in awhile. While my son was in EB Games, I went into Le Gourmet Chef to see if they sold Bacon Salt (they didn't). BUT what did I see staring right at me? Paula Deen's Hoe Cake mix! I was in Savannah a month or so ago, went to this store across from The Lady & Sons that had the hoe cake mix last time I was there (about 4 years ago) - they sell all her products. They were out of the Hoe Cake Mix, they only had the Biscuit Mix and one other mix.
So, when I saw the Hoe Cake Mix, I grabbed a box. To add to my pleasure, it was 75% off! The other mixes were only 50% off, not 75%.
Also, they had a display of popcorn products. They had these cute plastic buckets that looked like the paper ones from the movie theatres. I bought 2 to have on-hand when Trevor and I make popcorn. I was going to buy this 4 flavor seasoning thing for $5 and then I saw that they had a boxed package that had 2 varieties of popcorn and the 4 flavor seasoning for $10. So, I bought it. You can never have enough popcorn on-hand!
I was thrilled to get the Garlic Butter flavor. I can't wait to try it tomorrow. I recorded Fast Times at Ridgemont High the other day and my son wants to see it. I haven't seen it in many years. I can't wait to watch it and eat Garlic Butter popcorn!
So, if you have a local Le Gourmet Chef store at your mall, and you love Paula Deen, go in and see if they are also selling her mixes on sale. The Hoe Cakes are the best! I've had the real thing and they are so good. For those who don't know what a Hoe Cake is, it is a cornmeal pancake. It is delicious with honey butter!
