How about here?

Cnet is where I first heard about this bill. But because Fox news picked up on it many here on Gather are blasting the story. So does a different source make easier to swallow?
How about this question? Has any other news channel picked it up? Other than to use it to blast Fox news?
So many here dismiss a story simply because it comes from Fox. Do you folks hold MSNBC in the same contempt or do you feel they are legit?

This has been circulating for a few days.
I doubt that it will happen. Congress never gives up its power unless its to allow the president to start a new corporate war.
"The bill offers help to local and state governments plus business large and small. "
no it does not "offer help" it MANDATES it
what part of this is not MANDATED
"Cyber" is defined as anything having to do with the internet, telecommunications, computers, or computer networks.
includes a Federal mandate to do periodic mapping of private networks deemed to be critical and requires those companies to give up requested information. So, the Feds will have the power to know proprietary information for any company they deem "critical" to infrastructure.
The answer is simply the private network administrators. They have the ultimate incentive to shut down an attack on their own systems and develop strategies to shut down attacks against other companies and to hire and retain the talent necessary to do it. In this bill, the Fed wants to know who these professionals are, where they work, and what their capabilities are.
"Addressing what intelligence officials describe as a gaping vulnerability, the legislation also calls for the appointment of a White House cybersecurity "czar" with unprecedented authority to shut down computer networks, including private ones, if a cyberattack is underway, the officials said. "
another "czar" to add to his unprecedented private cabinet (you do know that his czars do not have to report to congress?)
More and more I have had people saying (I think 2 times on Gather) ... anyway they say something like this: I didn't know that ... that can't be true. Oh Fox? Where's the proof? Then I give them proof and their next question goes something like this: How come no one else reported on this?
Ya gotta shrug and say ... I don't know. Ask your news outlet, don't ask me.
Anyway you might enjoy this article of mine (enjoy might be the wrong word ...). But anyway it includes bits about this same issue in case you are interested to see if there are any different links than you've already found.
