The day before yesterday I decided on a sojourn to
Gulfport, a sleepy, picturesque beach resort with a
colorful seaside flavor. I came home with a story
to ponder and a different set of pictures then I had
planned on.
To start with, I got lost on the way and ended up in
a different area of Gulfport, which resulted in a
new view of Gulfport harbor and beach.
The ocean surface looked like glass ...
you could clearly see it was low tide.

I had come to see if the quaint little bookshop in
Gulfport, "Small Adventures Book Shop", had any
more sci-fi books by Brian W. Aldiss.
Two months ago, I discovered a book by this
British author there and loved it so much I wrote
an article about the author Brian W. Aldiss.
Happiness - I scored and came home with five
more sci-fi books by Brian W. Aldiss!
I'm not really sure where I was when I took this picture,
I was surprised to see the panoramic view
when I uploaded this photo at home.

Anyway, I eventually found the art district near
the beach. Everything looked deserted, with only a
few people in sight.
I was not inspired to take any pictures in town,
but I have some fabulous shots from my last visits
- just click here:

I decided to take a short walk on the beach and
found these birds squawking up a storm.
I love this shot, I can identify the shorebirds with
their bright black and red beaks.
But do you know .............
what kind the bird with the orange beak and little
tuft on top of his head might be?

We all know what this is!
I like seagulls ...

The shorebirds were skittish,
but I managed to capture one alone.

Bathing beauties ....

Birds of a feather .....

This is the first time I saw a seagull with beige
and brown feathers ...

Time to go ...
the storm clouds are rolling in .....

I promised you a story.
Well, the owner of the quaint little used bookshop is a sweetheart and we talked while she helped me find my books.
Turns out the books came from a retired gentlemen who came in one day with boxes upon boxes of his book collection he had acquired over his lifetime.
He was happy to part with them, because he had met the love of his life and they were getting married next month. She had demanded space on his bookshelves for her own books.
Alas, she was a snowbird (a lady from up north) and in the end decided, she did not want to leave her friends and family to be with him.
The shop owner told me, sadly rejected-dejected, he still comes in on occasion and buys back one of his favorites.
Have a great weekend everyone!
