I woke up early this morning, logged on and started reading some gather posts. When David's alarm went off I turned my computer off completely. I knew I was in for a long day.
First thing first was my homework. I did my algebra last night. So I finished the reading for history. Wow, though most of this portion of history I knew, I still learned a lot more that I didn't know. Fascinating stuff!
After that, David took me over to Best Buy to look at lap tops. There was wonderful little Gateway Netbook that I really wanted, about 3lbs of really cool. However, the down side to Netbooks is that they do not have DVD-ROMs and this could be problematic when installing software. Though still considering the Netbook, we also looked a nice Dell notebook and an HP notebook. We brought the information we had gathered.. basically what this Best Buy had in stock and came home before making a decision for a couple of reasons. One I needed to find out if Giant Eagle was giving double points on gift cards still and two to investigate the reviews on the netbook and notebooks. Sadly, Giant Eagle was no longer offering double points so no discounts on gas there. David started doing research on the laptops and I went back to my homework.
After lunch I got started on laundry, did more home work and David went off to campus for his Thursday lab class. After which he went to get a hair cut as he was getting a bit scruffy lookin.
When I finished with my homework I booted this computer to see what was going on at Gather. Random thoughts were running through my head when it occurred to me I still had to get my car inspected before the end of the month on Monday. ACK!!!
After David got home, I called Sears and they said they could get my car in today but they were not sure how long it would take. David followed me over to the auto-center and I dropped my car off. On the way back, he asked if I decided which lap-top I wanted. I told him I was going to let him decide since he had looked at the reviews and knew computers better than me. So now I have an HP Notebook.
We brought it home and started setting things up, and then Sears called and said my car would be read in about 1/2 hour however there was one small problem that needed to be fixed to pass inspection. Apparently the little light bulb to illuminate my license plate had burned out. OH big freakin' deal!!! I told the guy to go ahead and fix it though I was very annoyed at the fact that it was going to cost me like $15 to replace a $2 bulb. (They cut that labor price in half.. weehaw!).
So, all my homework is done, most of the laundry is done and I"m still getting the lap top set up. It had to install like 22 windows updates and now I'm burning recovery discs. Then I have to load a couple of software things on it so I can use it at campus for Writing (English).
The really cool thing is that even though I'll be mostly using this computer at home (I do love my desk top), If in the morning I want to have coffee on the porch before David gets up.. I can and I can take my web-family with me!. It also has a built in web-cam that I have to figure out how to use maybe. And they say I get a free up-grade to Windows 7 when it comes out.
It is a bit on the heavy side, but I think I can get used to it. What's another six pounds with all these college books right? LOL
