overseen by a surgeon general who is obese,
and financed by a country that is bankrupt..

Hmmm. Except for the President who smokes, it sounds an awful lot like
BUSINESS AS USUAL IN THESE HERE UNITED STATES to me.
So then, what is the problem?
I thought that the fact that he
isn't cheating on his wife,
isn't cheating on his taxes,
isn't overweight,
isn't bugging the Republican Party's headquarters,
is articulate and does understand what he is proposing,
and the biggest one -- was NOT the President who is responsible for bringing this country to the point of bankruptcy -- thaaaaat's right, it did NOT happen on his watch . . .
Well, I thought all of these things might count for something, but heck Y'ALL!

Except for the Stimulus bill, Omnibus bill, and insane trillion dollar increase in the federal budget, no he didn't cause the treasury bankruptcy.
For the record you can blame Bush all you want. I wouldn't let that idiot or the republicans run my healthcare either.

Smaller government with less power and money. Elect only people who have proven in the private sector that they can manage a business. I am pointing the finger at GOVERNMENT! It doesn't matter which party is in power. These people don't know what they are doing!
Also, I don't blame Obama for the mess he inherited. I blame him for making it worse through the same old "solutions" (spending) that got us here.
No President has the power to make Americans elect a certain type of candidate/person.
How does smaller government/how would smaller government had affected a change in this current mess? It was smaller government, meaning failure to regulate and oversee which got us into this mess. So smaller government did NOT work -- wait! Yes, it did! It helped the cheats to cheat America, and Americans.
Smaller government doesn't give lawmakers the power to govern insurance laws state by state, creating mandates in coverage that most people don't need or want.
Smaller government would not let government spend one penny over what they take in. Payroll tax would be off limits.
Smaller Government wouldn't force kids to go to failing public schools when it is cheaper and more cost effective for them to go to successful private schools.
Smaller government with strict spending limits would go into countries like Iraq to fight a war.
Smaller government would let people keep more of the money they earn instead of irresponsible politicians who are paid by lobbyists to create laws that pick winners and losers between groups.

Government has oversight responsibility and regulation responsibilities. Using "regulation" as a rouse to get laws that benefit one company at the expense of others is what big government does. Democrats want talk radio regulated but not ACORN. They didn't want Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac to e regulated and THAT'S why we got into the mortgage mess.
For the 25+ years that I worked, I was one of those employees who paid into the Social Security system, until the amount -- I guess I was required to pay -- was usually satisfied, by July or August of that year. Then, I was freed from any more deductions for the remainder of the year. Put another way, I paid into the system for quite some time, and I DEFINITELY DO want government intervention into the activities of these companies.
Having worked for a company that manipulated its way into deregulation, and was actually salivating, couldn't wait for the day when they wouldn't have the government breathing down their necks, I do so understand the motivations -- it is one thing, and one thing alone:

There were always rules, of course, and the one thing that I learned all too quickly was that rules were made to be broken. When that happens, you do NOT want the government involved, because you are a public service company.
