Republicans looking for a white leader to give hope to America

August 27, 2009 10:58 AM EDT
views: 469 | rating: 9/10 (9 votes) | comments: 138

U.S. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, Republican from Kansas, "told a recent gathering in northeast Kansas that the Republican Party is looking for a 'great white hope' to help stop the political agenda of the Democratic party and President Barack Obama," writes the Topeca Capital-Journal.

"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," Jenkins said to the crowd. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington."

White meaning a leader with white skin to stop the political agenda of an African American president of the US.

She mentioned three "great young Republican minds in Washington."

All three are white!

The Topeca Journal explains the origin of the term "great white hope:"

The phrase "great white hope" is frequently tied to racist attitudes permeating the United States when heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson fought in the early 1900s. Reaction to the first black man to reign as champion was intense enough to build support for a campaign to find a white fighter capable of reclaiming the title from Johnson.

Anyone surprised?

You forget that the Republicans have had leaders in all kinds of positions who were not white. We don't care about color.

Did you realize that the writer of the play you mentioned, Howard Sackler, was surprised that anyone thought about racism. In his words, he intended to show "the destiny of a man pitted against society. It's a metaphor of struggle between man and the outside world."

That's exactly what most conservatives are thinking right now. It's us against the world.

Wanting the great white hope does not mean we're looking for a white man. It means we're looking for someone who won't make this country any more socialist than it already is. It means we want someone who understands that we cannot keep running the government at a deficit, that businesses are important and must be encouraged. That the majority of Americans don't want socialized health care (although many need assistance figuring out how to pay their bills, including insurance).
Savo Heleta Aug 27, 2009, 11:18am EDT
"Wanting the great white hope does not mean we're looking for a white man"

Yeah...
Christopher B. Aug 27, 2009, 11:41am EDT
The "Great White Hopes" of the Republican Party include the following African Americans:
Alan Keys
J.C. Watts
Michael Steele

Modern politics and modern references to boxing metaphores always seem to migrate to a "Rocky" reference. They forget that in the original movie, Rocky lost the fight. Still I would welcome any good Republican candidate who could "go the distance."
Spencer T. Aug 27, 2009, 1:51pm EDT
Its undeniable that many are looking at race in this president when they complain about his color, his origin, his wife, his kids and every decision he makes. Wheather you do not like his policies or not it glares ever so brightly that it is rare to have a republican chastise those who make constant racial comments. You cannot defend accusations that much of the dislike of the newly elected president has a great deal to do with race. Many of the now catch words used to defame him have not a damn thing to do with reality. You, are in fact, looking for a great white hope. Meaning beyond a doubt a white "man".
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 3:04pm EDT
Thank you, Spencer. The phrase has a solid history of racism and, at her age, I know damn well she knew it when she said it.

Christopher B., I didn't see in any of the articles about this gaffe where she suggested she was thinking in terms of "Rocky".
I believe she meant exactly what she said. Maybe she's hoping Limbaugh will run... He appears the typical consumptive Anglo politician of old.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 3:11pm EDT
Spencer, you just don't get it don you? I didn't like Clinton, spoke against him and he was moderate compared to Obama.

WE DO NOT LIKE OBAMA's policies and his communist friends! GET IT???

I do agree, anyone who would use a dumb phrase like the "Great White Hope"
is definitely unaware of our political correctness focus. Can we chalk it up to some sort of reaction to those who scream "Black Power"?

Both are insulting.
Ali Hussein Lopez Aug 27, 2009, 3:19pm EDT
Christopher;

Please. Is that all you've got?

Alan Keyes is unelectable. JC Watts is a lobbyist. Michael Steele makes lost all credibility when he genuflected to the big druggie. There is no significant minority representation in the Republican party.

Richard Owl Mirror Aug 28, 2009, 10:31am EDT
Marilyn, "It means we want someone who understands that we cannot keep running the government at a deficit"

You do realize that practice is at the root of Republican Fiscal policies, right?
Look back over the past century and each time a Republican President and Congress were in charge of leading the nation, they borrowed against the future to pay for their wars of the present.

Republicans are the Masters of Double-speak. They claim one thing while doing the complete opposite.
Remember 'Blue Skies Initiative' meant removal of major environmental policies which unfortunately lead to the skies turning even more grey.
Marilyn M. Aug 28, 2009, 12:35pm EDT
Richard do you not realize that I and millions of others like me don't give a rat's behind what party someone is with - IF THEY WILL SHOW FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, SUPPORT FREE MARKETS, LOWER TAXES, AND ARE FOR LIMITED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. The candidates we support will be able to prove that's their agenda or we won't vote for them.
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 4:22pm EDT
//You forget that the Republicans have had leaders in all kinds of positions who were not white. We don't care about color. // Which is why you can count prominent African-American Republicans on the fingers of one hand. To add prominent GOPs from other minorities to the count, you wouldn't even have to take off your shoes.

The candidates I refuse to vote for are those who value politics over people, who ignore national crises in favor of the latest photo-op, or who demean their constituents and defame their opponents. In other words, I won't vote for a Republican.
Marilyn M. Aug 30, 2009, 10:18pm EDT
And the Dems have had how many? The Republicans put African-American, Hispanic and women in cabinet positions far more than the Dems did.

Standard GOP bigotry and hypocritical support for civil rights and equality.
Marilyn M. Aug 27, 2009, 12:55pm EDT
Wrong again, Jack.
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 1:05pm EDT
Your great white hope says it all Marilyn, you anti Americans have no agenda so you have to spout your bigotry or be silent forever. Your Leader Limbaugh said it all "I hope Obama fails."
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 3:13pm EDT
He hoped Obama's "POLICIES, FAIL"

Know what? So do I. I do not want socialism, or loss of my personal freedoms.
Johnice R. Aug 27, 2009, 3:44pm EDT
Marilyn wooooow so similar to S. Palin I knew something was eschew with you!
From your profile page.....Colleges:
University of Pittsburgh, University of Houston, Houston Baptist, Moody Bible College, plus lots of community colleges (PA, MI, TX, FL)
Now we have 2 of them yeeech!
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 4:51pm EDT
Well Johnice, hope you're not any where near 66,. If your heart starts to "flutter", no pace maker for you under Obama/Kennedy Care

Hmm, maybe Palin's "death panel" wasn't so far off base. hmmm
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 5:02pm EDT
Nora why don't you show some proof instead of just your normal denier mode?
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 5:24pm EDT
I'd respect your side so much more if you'd argue with the truth instead of making up stuff and stubbornly standing behind it without proof. And that screaming and acting-out at what are supposed to be peaceful dialogues is just so undignified and silly....

But, on a happier note: Hey, homegirl! Houston-born and -raised here!
Richard Owl Mirror Aug 28, 2009, 10:36am EDT
NORA, "I do not want socialism, or loss of my personal freedoms."

Please provide proof these issues actually exist in reality.
What personal freedoms have you lost under this 8 month old administration? Somehow you and those of your Party confuse compassion and social responsibility with Socialism. Perhaps you should examine the definition before applying the label ?
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 4:28pm EDT
When I had cancer, I was offered the chance to discuss the options I had should my disease be terminal. It would be nice to think that I would have the same opportunity when I approach the end of my life, and that those discussions with my doctor would be covered by my insurance. But no, you conservatives don't want me to have that opportunity - you want to close your eyes and cover your ears to the truth in favor of Palin's "death panel" lie.

The only reason conservatives believe so strongly in the "death panel" lie is that they would gladly "pull the plug on grandma" if they would somehow benefit and if they were sure they could get away with it. They can't imagine anyone caring whether the old bat lives or dies!

Bad A. Aug 27, 2009, 12:44pm EDT
The republican party has done more for black americans than the democrats ever has. the democrates want to keep them on the government nipple so they can control them.
Marilyn M. Aug 27, 2009, 12:55pm EDT
Indeed. Republicans want everyone to succeed. Dems want everyone controlled.
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 1:06pm EDT
Bad, the only thing the GOP ever did successful was whelp ass holes like you.
Spencer T. Aug 27, 2009, 1:53pm EDT
What fairy tale can you be beliveing in at this point? I guess I've been living in another word because the republicans as a political force don't even give a hoot about the average working republican so for you to vomit such words as they want everyone to succeed is as much a joke as Santa Claus coming on Easter Sunday.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 3:15pm EDT
You need to read some books on how to "control people", Spencer

One of the main principles is to "keep them dependent".
Ali Hussein Lopez Aug 27, 2009, 3:23pm EDT
Right Marilyn, Republicans want everyone to succeed as long as they've got control of every available orifice.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 4:49pm EDT
Ali, what planet of ridiculous did you originate?
Ali Hussein Lopez Aug 27, 2009, 5:22pm EDT
Nora;

You must be a Republican, even your icon has closed orifices. Now all you have to do is close your eyes and squeeze.
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 4:35pm EDT
//Republicans want everyone to succeed.// No, Republicans want to succeed themselves, and don't care whether anyone else does. Of And when they do succeed, they don't want to have to care about whether anyone else can even get by, they would be just fine if the rest of us would "die, and reduce the surplus population."

I'm sure you'd rather have the government wither on the vine, so you'd have to rely on the NRA to protect you from terrorist attack and on the kindness of your GOP fellows should you lose your health, your home, and/or your job.

I am JUST a "typical white person", uh, who used that term? However the terminology was poor on the part of the speaker giving the left ammunition to use against the republicans. You cannot say Barry is without bigotry of his own, sitting in the good Revered Wright's church and listening to the garbage spewed there. Race was a major issue with Barry and his supporters and it is a lie to say otherwise.
Mark H. Aug 27, 2009, 12:52pm EDT
By the way, I would vote for Alan Keyes even thought I am not a republican.
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 1:04pm EDT
Supporting anyone in the GOP is supporting hypocritical bigotry and insurrection.
Spencer T. Aug 27, 2009, 1:54pm EDT
I'll repeat what Jack just said. Supporting anyone in the GOP is supporting bigotry and insurrection.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 3:21pm EDT
Hogwash!

Repbulicans support Personal Accountabilty, Freedom to be what you want IF you study/work hard, freedom from government interference,

Bigoted eyes will see/accept only what they choose, Bigots are on both side, and that includes the liberals/progressives. Sad and Disappointing.

Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 4:32pm EDT
You mean like Bush personal responsibility? Or does that rule just apply to the poor and retched?
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 4:49pm EDT
Jack, your comment is soooo oollllddd history. Today is the day that counts, about your tomorrow. Get with the program.
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 5:05pm EDT
Good advice Nora to bad you don't take it. Unblock your ears you may hear something good for a change.

Odd history? I doubt that when talking about insurrection and Nazi support.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 5:38pm EDT
"Ignore history at your peril"

“History is the sum total of things that could have been avoided.”

"Those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it."
Marilyn M. Aug 27, 2009, 11:58pm EDT
The only bigots I know are liberals. There are quite a few here. They admit that they would never, ever read or watch anything from conservatives. Really? Then how do you learn? How do you know what you're getting from liberals is right unless you can weigh it against what is being said by conservatives and by other countries (like on BBC)?
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 28, 2009, 1:03am EDT
Marilyn,
Bigots openly support other bigots eagerly as long as "everybody else is doing it". When its not so popular, a lot of sheets go missing off laundry lines. Liberals don' play 'dat.

Speaking of bigots... How many minorities attend these tea parties you keep bragging about? How many do you invite? How many do you depict in those pictures of yours? How many do you see doing the shout-down at these town hall meetings? How diverse is Limbaugh or Beck's staff?

And please actually answer at least two questions or don't answer at all. Obfuscation makes my d***ks itch.
Richard Owl Mirror Aug 28, 2009, 10:42am EDT
NORA, "Repbulicans support Personal Accountabilty, Freedom to be what you want IF you study/work hard, freedom from government interference"

Should any Government Forcibly take away someones liberty ....... ?
"Each individual adult is responsible for making decisions freely about their desired lifestyle without state interference," the Court determined. "Private conduct is allowed unless it constitutes a real danger or causes damage to property or the rights of others."

Perhaps this is an issue both Liberals and Conservatives can rally around?

Do not conservatives continually call for less intrusive government?

Are they not in favor of reducing the high cost of crime and punishment?
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 6:37pm EDT
"Republicans support Personal Accountability..." Whereas liberals demand corporate accountability. And political accountability. GOP don't play dat.

GOP BIGOTRY. UMM, if only republicans would follow the lead of the fair liberal democrat party, who would never-ever-never, associate with vile anti-white people racist, because if they had they would be Racist- for sure and should never be elected.
Let me give some great democrats :
Rev. Wright- pure rot gut racist- Jew hater.
Jesse Jerk-son, Hymie town. Ran for president as democrat.
Al Sharp-ton, a complete evil race monger- Tawana- lie- This Democrat racist louse, ran for president as a democrat- 9 bodies lay at the feet of this vile Democrat.
Robert Byrd, former KKK MEMBER.
Savo, keep playing the race card, Obama being challenged because he is black- keep it up. Independent minds are fed-up with the liberal racism- no one is buying it.
I have been to tea parties- town-halls, and the people attending are just nice and fair hardworking Americans- The same people who told the*** WHITE** Clinton's to shove their government health-care the same place they are telling Obama to put it.
Savo, I have met blacks who said no to Clinton-care are they Racist.
Keep it up!!--Please.
Spencer T. Aug 27, 2009, 1:56pm EDT
Should I write a book about all the sickness of the GOP or would you prefer to just imagine they are and have been sweet as can be?
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 3:14pm EDT
"I have been to tea parties- town-halls, and the people attending are just nice and fair hardworking Americans"

Tell me: Micky D., would you have said the same thing of all those parents and kids holding up signs and shouting epithets and throwing garbage at Elizabeth Eckford? I'm sure they told themselves they were.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 3:23pm EDT
Wyoming, after the truth broke about the "republicans breaking the democrat office window" that turned out to be a staunch DEMOCRAT supporter, I've decided not to believe any accusations coming from the slanted media or personages known to prejudge.
Johnice R. Aug 27, 2009, 3:47pm EDT
People of low virtue pick one cause and sacrifice all else Micky D.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 3:53pm EDT
Thank you, Nora, for answering that question so intelligently. I'll follow your example--

After the truth broke about Bonnie Sweeten, Susan Smith, Charles Stuart, Tanya Dacri and Ashley Todd, I've decided to believe that people like you are incapable of either telling the truth or taking responsibility for their crimes.

We'll both keep our hands over our ears, our heads in the sand, and our butts in the proper position for such attitudes.
Ali Hussein Lopez Aug 27, 2009, 3:58pm EDT
Catt;

That's known as the "Limbaugh" position. He's always encouraging his numerous zombie supporters to bend over and grab their ankles. Makes it difficult to keep their hands over their ears though.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 4:07pm EDT
LMAO! That's rich....!!
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 4:33pm EDT
LAMO, its true
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 6:41pm EDT
//I've decided not to believe any accusations coming from the slanted media or personages known to prejudge. // So you don't believe Beck, Limbaugh, et al, either? Not even! You swallow anything they say and reserve your skepticism (and your rancor) for liberals.

I don't care what color they are if they can help the USA. Remember Obama is white and black.
Today's Illusion Aug 27, 2009, 6:02pm EDT
He is a citizen, He is a Liberal, We love him.
We out number them so far now they can't steal the elections.
Hurrah for US!

We outnumbered them during both Bush elections, but it was so close they were able to steal the elections.
There is solid documentation on the how, now, but since it is history. . . .

We can just celebrate our new U. S. A.
Marilyn M. Aug 28, 2009, 12:02am EDT
Keep dreaming, TI. Polls show that every week more Independents are NOT liking what Obama is doing, even if they did vote for him. Without them, you cannot win again.
Annmarie B. Aug 28, 2009, 1:53am EDT
You are so right Marilyn. How can TI love this president? what has he gotten from him except a big bill that our children will be paying for years to come. I couldn't care who won the election if they stood for what they said they stand for. If this is the best change Obama can give then I am happy to say I didn't vote for this person who is still wet behind the ears and not good President material. Just look who is surrounds himself with. that should be enough for people on all sides to rethink about him being in office.
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 6:42pm EDT
Of course it's never occurred to Marilyn that independents might not like what Obama is doing because he's not being liberal enough!
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 6:43pm EDT
//I didn't vote for this person who is still wet behind the ears and not good President material// So you would prefer Sara "I can see Russia from my window" Palin?
Annmarie B. Aug 29, 2009, 3:18am EDT
Do you mean Tina Fey from Saturday night live that looked like Palin and said that in a skit on the show. A lot of people really thought that palin said it. lol Don't tell me you thought that was the real Sarah Palin who said that too.

I have seen Jeb on C-SPAN reinserting himself with Romney and other klan types. Alan you may have something there. Yet if Jeb throws his sneaky slippery oil soaked hat back into the ring that is the end of civilization as we know it--if he wins anything.
Jack E. Aug 27, 2009, 4:35pm EDT
Jeb could not win a national election unless he could payoff the supreme court like his sicko brother did.

Spencer, write all the books you want. Just try and be fair and balanced. Racist come in all shades and political parties. Its not that I think you missed that obvious fact- I think it dosen't fit into America is a racist country- garbage.
Spencer, playing the they hate me because I'm a black president crap is not working and it is dispicable, but normal behaviour for the democrat race card Kings.
America is not a racist country, Spencer, Obama proved that point-, but keep playing racism card- millions of good white people voted for OBAMA-and they do not want to be called racist- now- by a bunch of incompetent democrats in power who are failing and as usual blaming it on Racist Americans--- PATHETIC!!!
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 3:35pm EDT
THEN WHY???!
Why the guns?
Why the swastikas?
Why do you see 99.999% Anglo faces filled with rage at these meetings? Where was the outrage and protests in the streets when Bush signed away our rights to privacy?
Why the threats of death to our President and his family..
...and why no outrage on that absolute definition of a United States traitor, that blatant display of Anglo-terrorism?

Why the overwhelming support for a man who threw a Black man off his television show for asking if he were a racist, then publicly calling our President one? One who stated our healthcare system was "a joke" until the Black President said the exact same thing, and then all of a sudden, our system was "great". WHY?!

No one is "playing the race card". Most who use that phrase are simply trying to deflect the fact that there is a race problem.

"Why was I raped?" "Why were you wearing a short skirt?"

Show me why these things are in fact all in our heads. Give me a reasonable explanation why there is even a smidgen of a chance we're wrong.
Johnice R. Aug 27, 2009, 3:58pm EDT
Wyoming Cat, because Racism is headed by only the dominant race and their minions. That is they choose some malleable person from a minority race to derail racial statements look at Michael Steele (or not) he was chosen to be the one to go head to head with Obama and his is ill equipped. The Repubs grow more obvious and ignorant at the same time it is difficult to find any point of departure for their switching voice.
Marilyn M. Aug 28, 2009, 12:05am EDT
WC, did you see the outraged African-Americans at McCain's town hall meeting the other day? Outraged at Obamacare. It's not a race thing for any of us. It's all about the insane policies of this administration. It's about spending money we don't have....and spending and spending and spending. It's about trying to control everything - businesses, banks, now health care.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 28, 2009, 1:10am EDT
REALLY?! There were? Gonna go look for a video of it. Drop a link if you have one...
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 28, 2009, 1:25am EDT
Alright... went to my video mecca, YouTube. Looked at 5 videos for the 08-25-09 meeting (assuming that's the one you are referring to). I saw one black woman sitting behind McCain. I also noticed that, whenever McCain stopped pacing, he would more often than not stop in front of the one Asian I could see attending there, camera getting a good long shot at this sign of "diversity". Still saw no minority dissent. You'll have to send me a link..
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 6:54pm EDT
//America is not a racist country// Yeah, right. Obama's election has shown how far we have to go -- look at the hysterical declarations that he's not even a citizen (in the face of both documentary and testamentary evidence to the contrary)! This is one example of how far we've come: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_Fruit

//Wyoming Cat, because Racism is headed by only the dominant race and their minions// If you make judgements about a person or group of people based solely on their actual or perceived race or ethnicity, you're a racist. period. Your own race or ethnicity is irrelevant.

On the other hand, the "dominant race" does usually "head" racisim, in that it is they who usually perpetrate the kinds of atrocities such as the ones Billie Holliday sang about.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 31, 2009, 5:49pm EDT
"did you see the outraged African-Americans at McCain's town hall meeting the other day?"

WHY does she keep lying and then disappearing when asked to show proof of her statements? Is that the definition of "troll'?

Seriously, WHO is paying this chick to do this?

"Fair and balanced" requires listening to both sides. When is the last time Faux news or any of their talking heads did that?

You are criticizing something you don't watch or you'd see and hear that the various panels consist of both liberals and conservatives.

The GOP falls easy prey to their very exploiters. The former get real tough defending the corporate media. It's so transparent as to be sad. G. Beck is exactly what FOX noose wants. Another distraction for the sissy-bullies away from the real threat.
The GOP (Guardians Of Poop) is unbelievably and, apparently, blind.

"None so blind as he who will not see" applies to both sides.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 3:54pm EDT
This from the woman with her hands over her ears....
Johnice R. Aug 27, 2009, 4:00pm EDT

Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 4:54pm EDT
Crying about the babies that are murdered.
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 7:40pm EDT
Then, Nora, help those who have already been born get the medical care they need and deserve.

And provide the same to their parents, so they will be able to take care of the little ones.

And give their parents good jobs, so they can feed, clothe, and house their children.

And give teenagers and preteens comprehensive sex education so they can make responsible choices and so prevent the acts you so despise.

But you want it both ways. You want teens to be taught nothing regarding sex (except at home, where Mom and Dad are usually unwilling, unable, or unequipped to do so), and don't want them to be provided the means to prevent pregnancy. What choice does that leave? They're not going to abstain just because you think they will, or because you want them to. Raging hormones are what they are.

Of course, no one has ever accused the Right of being logical.

Nora J A. Aug 28, 2009, 7:52pm EDT
How about each and every person works for his own good grades, degree/training, decent job, to feed, clothe and house his/her own children?

How about the responsible choice of abstaining until they have the life suppor skills and income they need? 12-14-16- year old girls need to be taught that spreading their legs is not ego enhancing, they are being used and degraded. I do not want my grandaughters to become "sluts" because "it feels good" and "everyone else" is doing it.

Other generations have postponed "immediate gratification" for a higher reward, a sign of intelligence. Those who refuse to can live with their own consequences.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 29, 2009, 5:35am EDT
Catt: Ma'am, we find it desirable that we make some slight provision for the poor and destitute.

Nora: Excellent! Then I suggest you do so!

Jeannie B: What may we put you down for, ma'am?

Nora: Nothing, madam.

Catt: Ah, you wish to remain anonymous.

Nora: I wish to be left alone, Miss! That is what I wish! I don't make myself merry and I cannot afford to make idle people merry. I have been forced to support the establishments I have mentioned through taxation and God knows they cost more than they're worth. Those who are badly off must go there.

Jeannie B: Many would rather die than go there.

Nora: Then they had better do it quickly and decrease the surplus population.

"As Neo Nazi David Duke said "The Republican party more represents my philosophy'" as was Regan's racial ouspoken rants. The heros they choose, so sad for the Nation.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 4:57pm EDT
And in the civil war, it was the Dems who wanted to continue slavery and the Republicans who were against slavery and the churches that ran the 'underground railways"

So, parties do change now, don't they?
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 7:48pm EDT
You claim the Republican party is the same as when they started 140+ years ago? Back then, they advocated abolition. Now they advocate an American corporatocracy and the destruction of the middle class.

Nora J A. Aug 29, 2009, 7:03am EDT
Neither are the democrats, they are now led by marxist/socialists.

Catt, none of those people were at any tea party- I' m sure. Catt, this is the best you got- Eckford- 68 years ago- 68 years ago. Now in America 2009 electing a black man as president, people of color choose to come to America by the millions in order to live a better life in the freest country in the world.
Catt, the race card play is over- days of democrat evil race monger lies are over.
Sharptopn. Jerk-son, black panther democrats, rev.Wright, Farrakhan, Pelosi, Rangel, Obama and Michelle keep claiming it no one buys it anymore, unless they are liberal race hustlers. Keep it up, please. America is not a racist country, Catt, and the people know it.--68 years ago!
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 4:03pm EDT
Tell you what, Micky... Head on over to undercoverlawyer.com. Read some of the things that are happening in this non-racial country.

In particular, http://www.undercoverlawyer.com/forum/topic.php?id=684. That's mine. I believed racism was pretty much a dead deal, too. I was very thoroughly corrected and educated. 68 years ago/ yesterday. The only thing that's changed is the regular usage of the N-word in public.
Johnice R. Aug 27, 2009, 4:04pm EDT
This is more attention than he ( micky d deserves)
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 7:51pm EDT
Since America is no longer a racist country, I guess I can ignore the explosion of white-supremacist websites and the fact that the Aryan Nations is once again rearing its ugly head in Idaho.

It's nice to imagine an America that is truly color-blind. We're not anywhere near that yet; just look at the Gates incident. Does anyone really believe he would have been arrested if he were white? And a law-abiding citizen can still be pulled over and cited for DWB.
Nora J A. Aug 29, 2009, 7:04am EDT
When anyone acts like a street hood, while a legitimate investigation is going on, that person will get arrested, white, yellow, black or brown.

Rude, it was the democrat party that has destroyed generations of black families with their help? Great Society liberal plan to end poverty has been a catastrophe for black people. But it worked just as it was planned too by democrats- it made black families totally dependent on the liberal government check. That money given was given to buy black votes.
Rude, inner-city public-option-schools are a disgrace, who prevents these poor kids from going to a better school Racist Republicans who want school choice or Democrats who refuse to let these kids escape your liberal public school plantations.
Rude, again keep playing the evil white people race card-. You liberals are making utter fools of yourselves. Rev.Wright is the face of your liberal party.
Johnice R. Aug 27, 2009, 4:10pm EDT
Great, that is just what Blakc folks need another racist dictating wht we need and why. Like their children are so intellegint---can you say Sarah Palin and how about Gather's very own Palinsek folk who spout ignorance and hate for people they have not met.

Sickness and madness is where they come from and this is more attention than they deserve.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 5:00pm EDT
All white people are NOT evil, Micky. But when they're scared of something, they cast about for something unlike themselves they can point at and blame for whatever crisis is developing. People of Eastern European descent were hurt and abused on a daily basis after 9/11, but perhaps you heard of even one white guy heckled for the Oklahoma City bombing?

The Thompson sextuplets were born May 8, 1997. The McCaughey's, Nov. 19, 1997. What did this nation do for each set, when and why? Who continues to get attention and support, who lives in ignored poverty?

You consistently blame and abuse Hispanics for the current economic problem, yet don't seem to see that there are no jobs because the large corporations, mostly headed by Anglos, are taking more and more of your jobs overseas so that you're left to fight for the sh*t jobs that didn't interest you before.

IF we are playing the so-called "race card", please remember who brought the deck to the party.
Nora J A. Aug 27, 2009, 5:03pm EDT
Clinton started NAFTA! The right to export jobs.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 27, 2009, 5:08pm EDT
I could see your point if you could say that Obama had done it. But Clinton did... so what's your point?

And how come you keep answering my questions with things that don't answer them?
Today's Illusion Aug 27, 2009, 5:23pm EDT
Nora
NAFTA is not about exporting jobs is is about tarrifs and goods quotas.
Free trade is not bad by itself.
Our companies made a choice modernize and work with environmental and worker safety rules or build in other countries.
NAFTA
and Most Favored Nation Status for China allows the stuff to be imported free of import taxes

Your buddies the Conservatives say you should be grateful.
You get to buy all this stuff so cheap now
You have saved huge amounts of money

Free markets, ::::::::If NAFTA is so horrible to conservatives why didn't Bush, during his first 6 years reverse it?
He had both houses and the presidency.

Marilyn M. Aug 28, 2009, 12:09am EDT
micky is right. The Dems are all about holding people back, not helping them succeed.
Jeannie B. Aug 28, 2009, 7:58pm EDT
Saying that Welfare (and/or other assistance programs) were instituted solely or even mostly for the African-American community is a racist statement. Believe me, plenty of recipients are melanin-challenged! Most Americans live one paycheck away from the dole.

//The Dems are all about holding people back, not helping them succeed// Not! Republicans hate Head Start, even though it's been proven that early-childhood education starts a child on the road to being more successful (for every $1 spent, we stand to get $4 back in taxes when they start paying them). Republicans are all about taking away people's jobs, then dismissing and demeaning them because they have no money.
Nora J A. Aug 29, 2009, 7:06am EDT
If Head Start were so successful, why do we still have children reading 3-4 years behind level?

Sissy thugs hell-bent to kick the weak in the teeth when they're down. The GOP and a good measure of the rest are cowards in patriot clothing. It's disgusting and a terrible insult to everything this nation once stood for. On the other hand, who needs ideals and empathy when one has flags to rally around, slogans to slap on one's bumper, and an easily defeated foe. Never mind that the foe was manufatured and delivered as a pacifier for hateful and fear-filled suckers. "Ignore what's behind the curtain. You should worry about the least of your worries."

I am a republican and I am telling you this is simply another off hand remark or she is an idiot. I don't know her, can't tell what she meant. I don't get riled up any time Obama blunders. She could have "calibrated her words better." Sounds familiar?

We all need to chill a bit. Again she could have meant this just as it came out. Who knows for sure? Democrats will take it at face value and republicans will make excuses. Both attitudes are stupid.

you know, I can almost accept the possibility that this goofy freshman congresswoman is not an out and out racist.

But still, why would she use a phrase that's that dumb and insensitive. Is she so color blind that she did not notice Obama is not 100% white? I do not for one minute accept the notion that she is unaware of the president's skin color. it's embarrassing when you encounter talk that is this brainless. I suppose Biden has had his moments, but wow.

Is it really possible that jenkins is unaware of the cultural and historic baggage that is carried by the phrase "Great White Hope". Could she be not a bigot, but merely incredibly provincial and ignorant?

Could be......

I wrote to Fox about Glenn Beck. If he goes I told them that all my friends, family and people I work for said they would stop watching Fox and have to gag and watch Larry King. Yuk. Glenn has freedom to speak unless the president stops all of the talk shows and tv shows that doesn't agree with his change. Oh he was going for change and he did a terrible change at it. He didn't stick to it. And I am sick of people playing the race card. Remember he is as much white as he is black.
Wyoming Catt (The Militant Midget) Aug 28, 2009, 2:32am EDT
And yet the jokes out there depict monkey and gorrillas, the guns are out in force and the threats to his life are going ignored by all the so-called American patriots.

Don't tell us: tell them.

But thank you for the reminder-- I've gotta call my family in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana and California and make sure they continue the petitions, calling FOX and writing to the remaining supporting ad companies. Then I've got to call my Hispanic friends and see how many of their family members can call, too. Probably not many of those, though....

But for a conservative to fight back, well, how dare you.
Chris the problem is also the fact that Liberals have no sense of humor-satire- they are always angry-hissy-fits when they do not get want they want.
