YES!! This was definitely the right decision.
I went early to take back one book and get the Int. Algebra book that I would need for this course. Happily I did get the full refund as it's still in the first week of classes and falls in the purview of drop/add. (YAY!)... however, they are out of the Algebra book and they won't be here until tomorrow or Friday at the latest. I hope they are correct in that assessment.
I did talk to the instructor and he said that because of the book situation and me joining the class a day behind, he will give until Monday (if I don't get the book tomorrow that is) to turn in the assignments. OK, I like that.
As I said before this was defiantly the correct decision as I'm sure much will come back to me from over 30 years out of Algebra and I know it will be a whole lot more challenging than remedial math. The instructor (not sure if he is a professor or not) is clear in his teaching and doesn't talk down to his students. Something I felt the other math instructor was doing. It also appears to be a few (at least two possibly more) adult students in that particular class... also happy for me. When I get to know them perhaps I'll have made a few new friends. Of course I'm hoping to get to be friends with some of the younger people too, as I do enjoy diversity.
I'm rather disappointed that I don't have my Algebra book now, because I really (yeah really) did want to do some problems and get into the thick of things. I do enjoy math so much. Perhaps I will change my major along the way. But for now I'll stick with where I'm going as much as I love math, I do enjoy writing and history too!
