Major Change!!

No, I'm not changing my major, however after reviewing the book for the "Basic Math Skills" it occurred to me that is was basically remedial math.  Starting  with the definition of a number, and moving on to place values, addition, subtraction and by the end of the semester algebra.  WHOA!!  I realized that I knew algebra, I just needed to get back in the swing.  So I dropped "Basic Math" and picked up "Intermediate Algebra."  So I'm off bright and early tomorrow morning to get to be book store, to return one book to get the other book.  Why so early?  Because there were only two classes that had available space, one at 1 pm (oops that's when my History class is) and one at 9am.  So now my classes will be at 9am, 1 and 2pm - MWF.  This is just a little bad, because I don't have a lap top I will have to come home after the Math class and then go back to campus for the other two classes.  This is going to suck for gas, but what would I do for four hours if I don't have a lap top to work with.

 

OH to convince David that I really, really, REALLY need a lap top now.

 

And now too, I've got to figure out what I want to do next semester, that is if they have the offerings up yet.

Do they have a library you could go to and use the computer there?
That's what I do when I have time in between my classes...
I'm 30 miles away from my college, so there is no way I am making an extra drive each day. lol.

I'm only 5 minutes less from campus, it just seems like a hassle to go and come home and go again. I may check out the library, but I'm wondering how much they would want me on a computer for nearly 4 hours LOL

Yes, they do have wifi, I just don't have a laptop

Letters, Arts and Sciences (better known as Liberal Arts) emphisizing (for now anyway) on History... but I'm hoping to take some Religion classes, writing classes and other stuff, so I'm not sure right now what exactly it will intail. Except in the end I will have the BA... my big dream is writing, but we'll see.

I would always go to the library and study and they do have computers you can use there, you'll just need a flashdrive to store your stuff. I did one semester, drive back home (20 minutes) in between my 3 hour break when I was at a junior college

When I went back to college, I had to take some "remedial" math classes, which mostly started with Intermediate algebra/geometry. So, if you're just trying to brush up on your high school or college math, then you made a good choice to take that class. When I graduated, I had to know trig, too.

I know I'll have to take College Algebra but I'm not sure if my major requires more than that. We'll see. I love math, and I'm rather good at it.

I don't know. But then there is the lunch issue too, which it would be better for me to come home to eat rather than try and eat on campus.

I tested out of Math when I went to college, but I only had a 3 year break in between. I had to take a prep class for the GRE and grad school cause it had been awhile. Good luck with your studies.

Numbers and I never jived. I still have to ask my wife how much of a tip I need to leave.

For years I thought Algebra was a country in Africa. :-)

LOL David, I was trying to do some of the basic algebra in my head (which I found I could still do a little) and my husband said.. "write it down you don't have to do it in your head just because I do." I think I'm getting a bit competative with him.

I had to take Algebra in my first semester of computer programming - it was a nightmare - I do NOT like math

It is tough figuring out what to do when you have a time gap like that. I usually used the time to catch up reading or working on homework for my classes since it was a waste of my time going home, not to mention I would have to pay for parking again.

I love math... I like numbers a lot. My dad is taking calculus courses online. I never had that in school! Congrats on furthering your education!
