Yesterday after picking up my middle son from his dad's house, I took the kids to the mall to look for the final item we needed to complete school clothes shopping: A pair of shoes.
It was starting to get really late and since we still had to drive an hour to get home, I was walking really fast through the mall with all 3 of my boys in tow.
A woman stopped me with a clipboard in hand and at first I thought she was one of those people who always seem to stop me wanting me to do a survey for them. I was surprised when she said she was with the show "Super Nanny" and even more surprised when she practically BEGGED me to fill out an application to be on their show!
Normally I'd jump at the chance to be on TV, I mean... who doesn't want to be a star? LOL. This particular encounter made me laugh a little though because of the kind of show it was. I mean - why would she ask us especially because when she saw us, the kids were actually being GOOD!
She kept saying "Your kids are so cute, they'd be perfect on tv and perfect for the show! We'll pay you $5000 if you're cast!" Of course my oldest son had dollars in his eyes and kept saying that he wanted to do it, but I ultimately declined.
Really if it had been anything else I probably would have said yes. I'm sure I was asked because we seemed interesting, you know? A woman with lots of tattoos with 3 boys, yeah that's pretty cool and good for TV. I know those shows work though and they can make anyone look bad. How embarrassed would I have been if they edited my family any other way than how we really are?
Do you think you would have done it or have you ever been approached to be on TV?

Have you watched the show? I don't think they edit it to make you look any different than you already are. You might also have input on that.
I took a chance once ... I thought I might end up looking like a fool ... but I was in the PBS Special, Ferrets: Pursuit of Excellence. They didn't make me look any more crazy than I already was. :) But TV in general you do need to be wary of.
I'm with you -- no way, uh-uh and who knows what the show would end up being like?

I wondered where they found the families to do the show.If they asked you without seeing where and how you live makes me feel it's all made up.
Imagine going to school after your family has appeared on a show like that! I always feel sorry for the kids.
LMAO, you know I'm just joking --- your kids are great!
BUT... that is just kids, not huge discipline problems, it is also not a normal day around here. I do not think I could put my kids through something like that, the embarassment for my daughter who is going into 6th grade would be horrible.
PS- Yes today my toddler (who I thought was upstairs with her siblings) got into my makeup in my bedroom and wasted a bunch of it, also smeared lipstick and other makeup all over the kids backpacks and school supplies I had set aside "safely" in my room... Urg! Frustrating day.
No, I would never do a show that is going to make my family look bad, we could do that on our own if we wanted. ;)
