We don't go to the horse races often because we are not good at picking winners. But when we do go we enjoy ourselves. This past weekend our gang, there were twelve of us, went to have a good time and we did. Most of us lost money (not much because we were making $2 bets) but a few made a couple hundred bucks by picking well and doing the doubles and triples and whatever boxing means when it come to betting.

When we first got to the track we had to check out the TV area that shows all the racetracks including Saratoga in NY and Calder Race Track in Florida. My brother-in-law is a trainer and races at Calder. He was running two races that day so we bet on his horses but they lost.

The day was overcast but dry. Black clouds off in the distance promised rain and didn't disappoint us. It pored for a few minuter and went away. Except what was on the ground. And that made a very sloppy track for the remaining races. The photo above is dry track and the photo below is a sloppy track.

We had a hamburger and a beer for lunch. I left the track with about $20 less than I arrived with.

The last two photos shows you the leaders of the pack - notice how clean and happy they are and the horses and riders left behind that were covered in mud by the end of the race.

We had a good time. I hope you enjoyed my photos. Canon Powershot A720IS,

Believe it or not my hubby a born country boy is afraid of horses.
Glad you enjoyed.
Oh yes, my mother had a system that seemed to work for her. She would bet on any horse that pooped on the track, figuring they then weighed the least.
