Stargate Convention 2009

Over the weekend, August 21 - 23, 2009, my husband Bob and I went to the Stargate Convention here in the Chicago area. We had a great time and had the chance to meet new people and visit with old friends! We had the chance to see and be entertained by the following actors: Gary Jones, Connor Trinneer, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Rachel Lutrell, Paul McGillion and Joe Flanigan. We also were very lucky to have the opportunity to meet and talk with Dean Haglund of the X-Files. It's hard to believe that another year has gone by and another Stargate Convention is history. Until next year we will just have to remember all the fun we had at this convention and hope that next years convention will be just as good or better!

No Dale, my husband and I pretty much just do the Creation Entertainment Conventions: Stargate and Supernatural, since they come to Chicago and I only have so much money, right? Next year they are talking of bringing the Star Trek Convention back to Chicago! : )

That's understandable. Cons are pricey. The cons I mentioned are all in the western suburbs of Chicago--Naperville and Lombard.

Sandra, would you mind explaining what the Stargate Convention is? It makes me think of something like the movie, Star Trek, but past that I don't have a clue.

Each year we go to conventions for Stargate and Supernatural and next year they are bringing back Star Trek to the Chicago area and we'll be there. The conventions have actors from these shows come and talk to the audience and sign autographs and take pictures with their fans. Many like the vendors room where you can buy t-shirts, books, photos and all kinds of stuff that has to do with the shows. They also have costume contests and auctions too. It's a very fun weekend! Now I understand. This is based on the movie on t.v. Stargate. I've seen that a few times. Okay. Now I get it. From what I hear these conventions are just more fun than we can imagine. I've never been to one, but have seen people dressed up for the Star Trek ones. Thanks for explaining.

Oh yes, people just love to dress up at the conventions, but I'm not one of them. I just go to have a great time! : )
