Hey all,
Just got back from my regular quarterly checkup with Dr. C. my lung dr. He said the CT scan I had last week show that my Wegeners has flared up again with the lesions in my lungs growing in size and number with new inflammation in my right lung.
To quote the report " There are persistent areas of ill-defined nodularity within the right lung which appear to have increased in size and number when compared with previous imaging. There is peribronchial thickening as well as some new ill-defined groundglass and alveolar infiltrate within the right lower lobe. Findings are consistent with provided history of Wegners's granularmatosis. I see no new dominant cavitary masses.
That last line is very good news, shows it hasn't gone hogwild yet! While I was there Dr C, called Dr N. my kidney/wegeners / guy to see what his thoughts were on treatment. I will start back on Cytoxan at a high dose for the 2 weeks before I see Dr N. I am soooo glad I didn't give in to temptation to cancel the scan/visit particularly since I feel just fine which is another sign they caught it early!
Needless to say I am not the happiest camper right now. Part of me wants to throw a tantrum worth of a candy denied toddler and the other part is praying to handle this with dignity and grace.
I am so hoping that Dr N won't put me back on the prednisone which led to diabetes last time I took it. If it does though I will just do my best to handle it as a woman and not a child. I reminded myself that there are things far worse than this and I got through it one time and should do so again just fine.
On the plus side I am recovering wonderfully from my knee replacement and am loving being able to get around without screaming or cussing!
I know I haven't been around much and I promise to try and do better!!
