94 years young today!

A friend & I had a meeting to attend at Bay shore Hospital in NJ. We attended that meeting then four of us decided to stop at the rest stop area on the way home. When we arrived, it was pouring down raining so we rushed in to get a table. Just to the right of us was an elderly couple with an older woman with them that they called Mom.  They purchased coffee & proceeded to put a piece of cake in front of the elderly woman with a #9 candle in her piece of cake. One of my friends pointed this out to us & as I turned around to look the daughter said, “It is moms 94th birthday today. We had this cake at a family party on Friday but today is her real birthday & she wanted to go to see the ocean.” I asked if we might sing Happy Birthday to her & her daughter was “yes you may her name is Maria.  We started to sing happy birthday to Maria when all of a sudden, the whole place seemed to stop & they all started singing with us. When we were done, people were all clapping, whistling & yelling happy birthday. Maria turned around and said, “You made me cry I am so happy that you would do that for me. I am 94 years old & I thought today was spoiled because we were on our way to see the ocean but it is raining. Thank you so very much.” I told her she is only as old as she feels. My other friend told her if she turns, the numbers around she is really only 49! She laughed & then the sun came out & she stated that we made the rain go away. She was so happy I could not tell you how good we all felt to see her tears of joy! I know that we all made her day & I hope she has many more happy days.

I will be he was healthier than most 98 year olds. Raw milk, fresh produce & veggies, good meats & eggs. They are the things I miss. The darn health bureaus coming & tell you oh you can't eat that, watch out for this, the milk has to be pasturized. We were all raised on the good stuff with no problems & very little of doctors. Sorry to hear you lost favorite Uncle. Well you know you will see him again one day to complete the broken chain.

Tami, when you'd go to shake this man's hand, his grip was sooooo powerful, his hand soooo big, you felt like your own hand was in a vice, I'm not kidding!!!!!
The Amish people still sell milk in stores that has not been pasteurized!!!! I used to buy it all the time, and it was wonderful.....but now I haven't been able to find it lately. I love buying the Amish cheese, milk, eggs (brown), etc........

That was the kind of hand shake that was his word. He kept his word. I love going to Amish country. I go to a flea market they bake at & when I do get to Lancaster I love it. Bacon dressing, eggs, whoopie pies, molasses crumb pie, chow chow. I did not know about the milk but I will check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Not me she was at least getting around but some days the way I feel I don't know if I want to be 49 backwards! Besides they probably won't have social security so I won't be able to still be around. LOL

i have a neighbor who is 96,, she always calls me kido, or little one, I ask her once why she does this, for I am 47 and she said I half her age and she can call me kido if she wants,, so when she was 40 when I was born,, so I let her... God love her.. she still does the curve program here in town,, she has a life time member ship

Good for her. They say if they keep active and keep their minds active they go great. I know a lot of people who are older but they seem to be getting around needing more help, can't hear well & sort of grumpy. But sounds like your neighbor is quite spry.

It sure was but I was really happy for her when everyone else joined in, it just made it so special for her.

You made it special for her -- the others saw the goodness and as goodness, kindness and caring spreads, so the rest joined in. What a wonderful thing that is.

We were happy to do it, I was just so surprised that the others who were there all stopped & joined in. They could not have had a clue but they were all eager to join in & cheer at the end, The lady was so surprised I am glad we were able to do it & we all felt great all day long.
