A girl in a pretty white dress was walking to a dance party.
Two young men noticed the girl and gave her a ride there.
They introduced themselves and she then asked them to accompany her to the party.
The three of them had a nice time and the girl loved to dance so they danced.
The young men noticed that while she was beautiful, the girl was also pale and her
hands were cold and clammy.
They gave her wine, but she spilled it on her dress.
When the party was over, the two young men offered to drive her home.
One of them put his coat over her shoulders to keep her warm.
They drove her home and said good night.
The young man forgot to ask for his coat so they went back to the house the
next day to get it.
They met the girl's mother at the door and told her their story and asked for the girl
and the coat.
The mother told them that their story has to be wrong because her daughter had died
five years earlier.
The young men said that this could not be.
They were with her last night.
After talking some more, the mother again said that her daughter was dead.
She told them the cemetery where she is buried and if they did not believe her, they
were welcome to go there and see for themselves.
They said thank you and went to the cemetery.
Once there, the two young men went looking for the girl's grave.
They found it and over the gravestone was the the young man's coat.
The story was told over and over and when they exhumed the girl, they found a wine
stain on her white burial dress.
My mother first told me this story many years ago.
I have read about it since.
I have some personal experiences like this that I will share with you in the days ahead.
