The phone rang early this afternoon and when I answered the woman asked for something that sounded foreign. It sounded like a name so I said "I'm sorry...I think you have the wrong number..."
Again she asks for this garbled name and then she says 'hello, hello?"
"Hello..." -Me
"Hi, Can I speak to a grown-up?" -Telemarketer (talking to me like I'm 9)
"Uh...who is this?" -Me
"*insert telemarketer ramble* and I need someone over the age of 18 please." -Telemarketer
*click* (Me)
^ My mom got a chuckle when I told her the story (though we do sound a lot alike). Still, I do sound like I'm twelve. One of my best friends made the comment once while I was on the phone with her that I sounded like a 12 year old but talked maturely and my conversation was that of an adult...I just sounded like a kid. So in a nutshell, I look 15, sound like I'm twelve even though I'm 22.
Speaking of voice...I got a rude email this morning. I posted a video two months ago on youtube at the encouragement of a friend to showcase my manga collection which is rather large. I've gotten over 400 hits and a perfect 5 star rating with several votes, so it's not bad for a first video I guess =) However, at one time I got someone who commented I pronounced a japanese word wrong. I'm still studying Japanese so it's not going to be perfect, but now I know. But, it was nothing compared to what I got this morning.
In this comment a girl posted she spent a paragraph saying how horrible I was to say two Japanese words wrong. Then, she went on to say "you even got maniac wrong and that's english!" Er...sorry for being nervous and misprouncing words not even in my own language??? She even started her comment by saying "om*g-I deleted a bad word there, and I don't think taking the lords name in vain is right either, but to each their own. She ended by saying "amazing collection!" Erm...you're rude and hateful to me for saying two words wrong and make it out like it was painful then say "oh yea amazing collection" I like those little remove buttons on youtube...

I'm sorry someone was rude on your YouTube comments.
As for the rudeness, it's the cyberworld. People feel protected and behave in ways they never would (probably) in a face-to-face encounter.
As for your voice, that is very funny. You and I seem to have opposite problems. On the phone, I am regularly mistaken for a man.
Telemarketers all get hang ups from me. I see them as people taking jobs that belong in the United States so I don't talk to them. Let them bother their own countrymen.
