Gather Company!

What better company could there be?!   =~D

 

I had the pleasure on Monday of meeting Gather member, Nancy S., here in my home as she flew in from Illinois to spend time with her kin, who I also had the pleasure of meeting.  More folks than I usually see in a month, was like a Christmas to me. 

She didn't fly in to Phoenix, but to Tucson, as her son (also a Gather member, unbeknownst to me at the time) lives in Bisbee.  His daughter was in from Germany to be with him, and Nancy hadn't seen her in 7 years either, so was a reunion as well.  Her granddaughter is a teenager (same age as my son), and Grandma doesn't come often, so they wanted to do different things and make the most of their time.  One was tubing on the Salt River which would take them all through Phoenix to get there, that's how I got lucky, lol!  That and I think that Nancy wasn't real gung ho to tube anywhere, let alone there, so she was able to have her son and family bring her over to my home, I managed not to get them lost, and we just lounged the day away together!

 

Nancy and myself down at my favorite Bistro for lunch, yummies, I ate shamelessly twice what she did!!  =~P

 

Nancy's son Jim, her daughter in law, grand daughter, and Nancy!

Her son Jim is a musician and artisan jeweler in addition to his day job and they came bearing me gifts!  Knowing how fond I am of music in general, and very much so cultural music, and what a jewelery (especially turquoise and silver) fanatic I am, they brought me 3 more CD's (Nancy had sent me one of his previously), 2 of Jim's and one RadioFree Bisbee, they're fantastic, and a silver necklace he made with a gorgeous stone of turquoise!  Far too generous and I felt awful I had nothing for them, well, entertaining mom for them, lol.  Or so I thought at first.  The grand daughter was a complete sweetheart, and so petite and just beautiful that I couldn't help but remember all those clothes I had bought when I must have glimpsed someone's magic mirror just going to waste for lack of a girl like her to wear them, well, duh!!  She of course went home with them, as it should be.....

Now, countdown is on til she comes back hopefully in February and my next trip to Bisbee, now I actually know some amazing people there as well to ring up when I go!!

Very cool for sure Michelle! This seems to be my year actually, when I went home to visit my mom in Wyandotte I got to meet a Gatherer that lives in that area as well. No pics I can post unfortunately though, but my mom and I were very honored to have Curt L. come visit with us. Every bit as charming and interesting as you would guess, is a good year!! Thanks for commenting!

The pretty little thing, lol, Nancy's grandaughter, her son Jim's daughter! Nancy hadn't seen her in 7 years so it was especially poignent, a real sweetheart too!

It's really nice and lots of fun to meet folks from on-line. I've met a few people, over the years, from the numerous forums that I've hung around at. Some have become quite good friends and keep in touch, even though I don't frequent some of the sites anymore. I get bored or bummed with a site, then will suddenly just go"poof", but try to keep in touch with mah buds.

Looks like a nice buncha folks.

It's great, I've got to meet Gatherers on two different occasions this year, a red letter year for sure! When I went home to my mom's in July, Curt L. who is from the same area as she came over and visited with us a spell. Such a charming guy for sure, and it never feels like a first meeting to me at all. Well, it really isn't as we've all 'talked' so much for some time and they have always matched who I thought they'd be so far. I have lost contact with a couple sites that I used to be on as much as I'm here, was quite gradual, as if needs and situations change we all just move on as in life.

Daughter, grandchild, niece, sister and friend of steel bro, you forget I'm from Detroit! My ilk weren't the assembly line, we envied the auto workers, we made the steel, shoveled the coal and ran the coke ovens so that they could make their cars. I know, I know. And this is Paradise when you got people............................for 9 months of the year anyway, lol. I'll retract my hell statements, any and all, in about 6 weeks I hope if things go as they should

It is the nicest Lee, especially when you find the faces match whom you thought you were meeting even! Isn't awkward like just meeting someone, but more as seeing an old friend after a long abscense. LOL on the necklace!! Nopers, that's good stuff, an unexpected gift from the heart that's also silver and turquoise, in my world there's no better gift, but I got lots and lots more like it, empty though, not gifts, maybe I could hook you up??!

It was so nice of you to let them dump me off on you Ruth. I would have been fried like a pretzel if I had gone with them on the river. Lol! I really enjoyed lunch and spending the afternoon in your apartment. Your Smokey cat really put on a show for us. Lol!! He's a very special kitty.
I really enjoyed myself. So glad we became friends.

Nice of me?? If you couldn't tell I was company, heck human being, starved, lol!! I was worried it was more like they stuck you with me since you weren't thrilled with the idea of tubing in the brutal desert sun!! I can be a bit much, and really had nothing for us to do after lunch and the bus back. It felt real nice and relaxed though as if you were comfortable and not weirded by me where just being slovenly sloths worked for you as well as I do it! Thank you for your company, and allowing me to meet your lovely family, such good people, was all completely my privelage and honor. I'm hoping you can 'burden' me again next year and that I'm able to put your son and his wife out a wee bit next time I get out Bisbee way, it rocks just knowing good people that aren't a thousand miles away for sure!
Smokey thinks he's pretty cool too, and I think he's the greatest ever. Don't know what I'd do without him and as much of a handful that he is, I'm grateful for it, wouldn't change a thing or have him be any other way!!

I'm going to have to ping Jim with a link to the family photo so he can snag it as well, and thank them again, I'm really enjoying the CD's
