Wedding Photography - My brother's wedding

My younger brother Forest (only 9 weeks younger) got married to his long-time girlfriend of almost 15 years the weekend before last and I was honored to be their wedding photographer!

The wedding was beautiful, despite a few setbacks like most weddings have. Everywhere I looked people were laughing, smiling and hugging so you had to know it was a good time for all.

My friend Becky was my assistant and between us we took about 1000 shots. I just finished editing my 600 photos last night so I thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you.

This is Monica's bio-dad walking her ... he passed her off halfway to her step-dad who walked her to Forest. Her heel kept getting stuck in the deck!

I adore the expression on her face. They've had their dog since the beginning of their relationship, almost 15 years ago .. so of course she was in the wedding!

Thank you! I was really pleased with the way the photos turned out for this wedding. I'm slowly building my photography business up and it's exciting.

We have the same dad, different moms and um.. yeah. ;o)

It IS juicy, huh? That is the reason my mom decided to leave him when she was pregnant with me. Our dad ended up with Forest's mom after that and they eventually had another daughter together, Amber - she is in one of the photos above, the blond in the ladies group shot. My mom married my step-dad when I was 2 and didn't have any other children after me. I met my bio-dad when I was 5, then again when I was 17... but we didn't start getting to know each other until I was 20. The 'mom' and 'dad' tattoo I have on my arm is for my mom and BOTH of my dads. :o)
I did a double take on the nine weeks difference also. You and your brother look a lot alike. What is your ethnic heritage, Faith? You both have what I call an "old world" look about you.

Oh geez, those wedding shots are beautiful, Faith. My best friend just sent me the shots from her wedding and they were so disappointing-- nothing like these.

How did you get the flower girl to glow like that?

THANK YOU! That is really too bad that your friend's wedding photos were disappointing. I really like to do weddings even though they're really hard work. Doing my brother's wedding was my gift to them so I'm thrilled that they were so happy with the pictures.

I've been working on a combination in Photoshop to pump up color & contrast and finally came up with something that works for photos like this. Basically I just add a layer and play with different filters until I find something that looks kinda magical. :o)

how lovely Faith, and you will be able to give him these wonderful memorable photos of his special day. I loved the image of the flower girl running. very paintable..image.. very sweet.

oK, so i had to read it four times, my younger brother, 9 weeks younger.... lol

I always love it when I can throw in the '9 weeks younger' thing, it makes for a good story, that's for sure.

I handed over the finished photos last night and my brother and his wife LOVE them. I still have my assistant's photos to edit though, so those should be done in about a week.

I got about 10 shots of her putting it on and one of them she's wiping her tears away with a napkin - it is SO cute! I was crying while trying to take the pictures and actually missed a little bit of it because I had to turn around and wipe my face off.

Faith, the photos look phenomenal!!! I love all of them! I love the edit of the flower girl and the bride/groom dancing. The mother with the veil shot is really precious too! Great job!

I completely forgot to tell everyone that she walked out to the song 'Foxy Lady'! Isn't that the best? It's the ringtone Forest has on his phone when she calls him so it was a perfect choice.

They are all so wonderful. I really like the up above shot of the wedding party and the mom putting the veil on. The flower girl one is adorable. I bet Monica is really happy with these pictures.

Oh Faith, great shots. I really love the ring shot. I think the rings on a satin pillow is very over done and I think the flower was a very creative shot.

I think it is too. I was going to get a shot of the rings hanging off an old hook in the barn too but I just didn't have time. I think that one would have turned out SO cool!

They are so very lucky to have had you to shoot their wedding. You did a fabulous job on the photos. I especially love the ring shot, and the one of the bridesmaids looking up to the camera.
