Promise.
It has been 95 with humidity. We have fans and some AC, but oh the malls are crowded and I am so heat sensitive.
Going to run a cold tub and strip right down to a cotton nightie.
Chew on that awhile.
Send me a frozen woolly mammoth (and a strawberry frozen daiquiri), gallons of ice cubes, even send the thunderboomers scheduled to arrive.

Thunderboomers are nice and lull us into the false belief that it's cool out there.
I kind of miss them. We haven't had rain here in a long, long time it seems..
cool
77 f at 6am
now it is 78 outside with 80 percent humidity. Today 86. WHAT A RELIEF.
IT HAS BEEN 95 F with 80 percent humidity!
All of my cotton nighties are long, so I just shower, put on a wife beater and really thin, short cotton boxers and sit in front of the fan, or watch TV in the bedroom with the AC on.

It has been a weird weather summer, for sure.
My husband runs the central air all summer, and my daughter and I freeze. He went out to a meeting earlier, so we took a dip in the pool, and came in and turned off the air and opened the windows.
I miss the sounds of crickets and peepers with the air on all the time.
i love the cool ac...
I like summer outdoor adventures, but for extreme hot or cold, I prefer cold. There are multiple devices and activities to warm oneself, but when it's hot--you can only take so much off without running out of items to remove and still be sweltering. In a locale with four seasons, spring and fall are the ideal temps. I'm glad I get some of each.
I do remember just lying around in salt lake when it was 105. it was only a week. and i was miserable. but never more miserable when we went to phyilly and my dad said, oh it is only 75. I jumped for joy until i got out of the car. COULDN"T BREATHE.
And here it does not cool down at night much at all.
in the house it is between 78 and 85 WITH FANS. The only cool room is the bedroom with AC. Back there in a minute.
Though, with two you, get a side of of tusks.
heat addles my brain. tons of freeze pops, but the Edy Real Fruit Lime has made my upper lip swell. Looks sort of cute.
Optimum = Temperature at which the bacterium grows most rapidly
Minimum = Temperature below which no growth occurs
Maximum = Temperature above which no growth occurs
Psychrophilic = Cold loving; optimum growth at 15 - 20C
Mesophilic = middle living; optimum growth at 30 - 37 C
Thermophilic = heat loving; optimum growth at 50 - 60 C
Psychrophiles are commonly isolated from cold waters and bottoms of lakes and oceans. Many grow well at 0 - 4C and some at -7 if solutes added to depress freezing point.
Mesophiles are the the most common bacteria. Saprophytes grow best around 30 and the parasitic species aaround 37C. Every species grows over a wide range. Saprophytic have a wider range than parasitic species. Two species may have an optimum at 37, but one may grow from 5 to 45 and the othr may only grow from 25 to 40.
Thermophiles were first found in hot springs and heating piles of hay and manure. They are fairly widespread in nature. They present a problem in pasteurizing milk because they grow at the temperatures intended to kill. Some cause canned foods to spoil because they produce highly thermo-resistant spores.
Now, that thought doesn't cross mind. Only cool showers and ice cubed drinks when I'm melting now :)
I saw me asleep

unds like not that fun. Sounds like what we have......Sounds like so much of what we have. Before I moved to Boston, I went to Key West and that was fine, but there was central. Then a week later in Boston, I said: OMG my hair is so curly, the sink never dries and the sweat is pouring off me, and it is so humid. Our being on the coast plus other factors makes for our strange weather, strange for our lattitude.
It does wear one down after a few weeks. I've been washing my hair everymorning and putting it up in a bun wet......seems to help....it's like having a wet rag on my head all day and when I take it down at night it's still wet! Also, I always keep cold water in the tub.....that seems to help keep it cooler in here. I live upstairs and it's gotten pretty intense even with a/c in the livingroom area...you can only take so much of that too!
We've been getting the thunderboomers but they come in quick as a flash and leave just as fast.....the winds violent enough to rip pieces of house off and powerlines down. BUT relief is coming for us being "baked" on the east coast. This weekend is supposed to be simply divine with temps in the 70's and low humidity with tons of sunshine.
thunderboomers soon...
80 percent humidity with 95 yesterday, and 88 today. much better today, actually.
Weather channel just said hurricane Bill is heading our way......youre closer than I am........and there's supposed to be 30 foot waves off the coast of Cape Cod on Saturday......WOW I'm picturing the National Seashore near Wellfleet with waves like that! I go to Cape Cod every September and last year there was another tropical storm off the coast making waves about 15-20 feet high and that was the first year I had seen sooooo many surfers at National Beach.
Heck if I had a freezer big enough I'd hang all my clothes in there!
Well.....almost couldn't get back in here cuz the thread is getting too long....sooooooo have a good Thursday and keep it cool babyyyyyyyy lol
Hope you get some heat relief soon......those scorching temperatures are no fun!
