Last year, we went to my Grandma's side of the family's Family Reunion. It was the first time since 2005. I got volunteered by my MOTHER to run the games this year. I certainly wasn't about to do the volunteering myself. I don't do games. I hate doing games. I don't mind the prizes- I've got a TON of stuff already for that. But the games? I have no clue what to do with them.
I'm thinking instead of small games where you win a prize each time, doing games that involve everyone all at once- like a water balloon toss, for instance, or a 3-legged race.
I need some ideas as I sit over here in this insane heat sorting through boxes of stuff I've picked up over hte past year. Oh- and my list of how much I've spent is missing. Fantastic. I have prices still on most items, but not all, and some were marked down further. I get reimbursed, though, so I'll have to come up with a price scenerio.
Kid wise, I have no clue how many will be there. 20-30 is likely. Probably closer to 30 than 20. Ages range from younger than 1 to 15 or 16 (I'll have a cut off point, not sure what).

We were supposed to have one in Sept, but not sure if my aunt and uncle really put it together.
We did go with my boyfriend to his and they did do water balloons and stuff for the kids.
3-Legged Race
Burlap Sack Race
Egg Toss
Pinata
Craft Time
I have way too many things, prize wise, but we do a white elephant auction every year, so I'll stick some kids things into that. Then, they can be FOR kids. Last year, some stuff for kids were bid on (rather agressivly) by my 3rd cousin, who has no kids. She just likes stuffed animals. I was getting down right pissy, because she was bidding against the kids. That left all the kids sitting there with nothing to bid on. I might do some blind auction items- grab bags with ages & boy/girl on the bag. That way, they will be geared towards kids.
have fun
Remember the LITTLE ones. I got so mad when we went to a carnival with My 2 year old, she is big for her age and really wanted to go on a kids ride, the smallest ones they had were still too big for her, and of course the games were set to NOT be won and she ended up doing the only thing she could do there, smack a bell with a hammer for a prize... which was a blow up hammer. Ugh... cheesy.
I think having the littlest ones that would want to participate do something like balloons that each have a prize number in it, they just have to match it to what they won.
I love the idea of the white elephant grab bags for the kids, kind of protects the stuff that should be for them.
