I was shocked yesterday and then very disappointed because I got a 50 out of 100 on a paper I wrote for my Philosophy class. That's an absolute F.
I didn't agree with the professor's comments so I sent him an email today. It was very respectful. This is what I wrote:
I am extremely disappointed in my grade on this response paper. I, respectfully do not agree with your comments. I checked and rechecked my paper for grammatical errors and had it checked by a respected friend in case I missed some errors.
The one thing I was unsure on was how to cite in method you instructed. I reasearched that as well.
I feel I did put my opinion in this paper and tried to back it up with the facts from the various sources cited in this paper.
I have been out of college for 23 years and returned in Jan 2007 and have written many a paper since then and I do hope to gain some understanding on this paper and why it was only worth 50% credit. I want to learn from my mistake here. If you can advise at your leisure that would be very helpful in my continued success as a student here at Liberty University. Thank you.
He responded by rereviewing my paper and agreeing with me for the most part. He changed my grade to a 90!! That's a far cry from a 50. I'm so glad I asked. Sometimes it doesn't pay to keep quiet.
