I am glad to hear that there are still doctors who refuse to hand out medication. Especially when the doctor thinks the patient is only looking for drugs. Or do not wish to have new prescription interact with each other.
A doctor who lives in my area did just that. He ended up loosing a finger and because of it. You may have heard of him - Dr. Paul Arnold. The Dr. denied a jack nut a prescription he was seeking. When the doctor turned his back to enter something in the computer, a jack nut attacked him, bit off his finger and nail.
So, far that is two doctors I am aware of that will refuse to give medication to people. Instead of just writing a prescription because Th patient wants it.
Let me tell you a story of what happen the last time I went to my leg pain doctor. I was stuck n a room with the door open. The doctor was standing outside the room I was in discussing a patient with the patients son. The son had taken the patient there for pain. The doctor did not want to give anymore medication to the patient til the patient went off all her medication cold turkey. So the patient could tell the doctor where she was hurting and how much. He did not want any of them to interact with each other. During this talk, the doctor learned the patient was taking anywhere from 25 to over 50 medications on daily bases. It was also noticed the patient kept passing out in the office. The patient was transported to a hospital for a drug overdose.
I was very happy to hear the doctor stuck to his guns about wanting the patient go cold turkey. Otherwise he would of never found out the patient was currently passing and had over dosed.

It IS good to know that some doctors would rather treat the cause then just send home pills though. If my doc had said "Well lets find out WHY you are in pain" instead of just assuming I was displaying drug seeking behavior, I would have been so happy. All I wanted was to get out of pain!
Good luck hunny, find a GOOD doctor and keep them!
After I was shot in the leg, I had medicine for three days for the pain given in the ER. My doctor would not give me any medication for the pain. Not even when I was going through therepy. The therapy lady could not believe the doctor would not even give me any medication. It took me over a year to finally get someone to listen.
To be honest, I avoid takes any medicine (unless I'm sick) because of all the side affects. You have to weigh the pros and cons. And, some meds do end up addictive, its about a persons genetic make-up, it's really sad.
