Local Blogger Garners National Attention

A local blogger, and head of the Independent News here in Pensacola is getting national attention! 

Rick Outzen publishes the Independent News, a weekly newspaper here in Pensacola.  Although far from perfect, it's much better than the daily newspaper.  Back in July there was a terrible tragedy here.  The Billings were gunned down in their own home, leaving 13 children behind.  Although it was first reported as a robbery, I know I was one of many who thought that there just had to be more to the story.   Well Rick dug deeper and found evidence that it may have been a hired hit.  Although criticized for not naming his sources (Would you want to be named accusing someone of that?  I wouldn't, I'd be afraid that I'd be next!), he has not had to rescind his statements and the sheriff said that they are investigating the claim.  They plan to make more arrests soon, and as things progress I'm sure we'll see the true scope of this case.

I'm glad that Rick decided to dig deep, and I hope that this leads to justice being brought to the people involved in this horrible crime.  I can't imagine what those children must be going through!
