Don't give up, this means a lot to you and I don't care whose article you read, don't let it get to you. If I'd read these types of articles when I had my online biz, I wouldn't have even tried -- as it was, I did great. I stopped it when we moved back to CT from FL, not because I wasn't doing good.
So -- don't give up. Do -- stop reading this stuff.

I say go for it!

Challenging time to be in business for yourself but equally challenging when you depend on a company that may or may not be doing so well. Just plain challenging time.

Answer, in your attempts to be successful, did you make mistakes? If so what were they and write them down for yourself. Two how much working capital (WC) or cash flow (CF)do you have? Write that down. What kind of cash flow or working capital does it take for your venture? Write that down. Can you leverage other throw aways ( what people don't want or are willing to let you have to keep WC an CF down. CF is often what bring down a company not a bad product or a bad service. Many internet companies started out of internet cafe's and used their internet connections to start their business. They bought coffee and food there. I know of one guy who goes to the library to do his work. If you failed in your last venture did you like what you did or did you like the people you worked with? Do you like working? You will be accountable for everything. Has anyone and how many people have asked you for that which you are about to make a business? Demand produces supply! Is there demand for what you are doing? and are they willing to pay enough for you to make all your costs back?This is called taking stock. Make this your first step and build off of it.

I'm in the exact same place. I've been asking myself all weekend if I should push forward or hang it up. I decided to keep pushing forward.

Keep pushing. I have knwn people that are as the entrepreneurs are that failed and those that have very little that they are like and they do moderately well. To me its all in the desire to do well. If you really want it you can do it!

Owning your own business requires that you can and will work without supervision. You need to put in the hours to make your business succeed.

My husband and I started an auto repair business about 30 years ago. We sold that business to our nephew, who worked for us for more than 10 years, a few years ago.

The attributes you mentioned are very vague. Keep working and your business will be a success.

Many years ago, I had a very successful typing business for college students...........I typed, and helped write, college papers for many students, including many from the Middle East, especially from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait......it was so interesting, and my name got passed around so much that, at one time, I had close to 100 students that I was typing papers for...........I did this for probably 6 or 7 years, and it was really great! Many of the guys would even give me $5, $10, $20 tips along with what I charged!

Awww, you can do anything you want to whether the drive is there or not.

I have to answer a negative on all of them. But at one time they were all positive answers. Been there,done that. It's someone elses turn now. LOL

I think you should always try until it becomes obvious something isn't working.

Mary, none of us can work at the same pace we did in the past. Try not to compare today's energy level to 20 years ago, but be realistic. I still tend to make lists that have twice as much as I can accomplish. Think things over, weigh the pros and cons, then if it's warranted, take a risk....maybe a small one to start!

You can do it if you want to. Keep at it and good luck.

I'm a little like you. The fact is that most businesses fail because people take too many risks. Slow and steady is fine with me.

My answers would be much the same as yours. I think you should keep trying.
