Gone Too Soon

While visiting the cemetary last weekend back home in PA, I took some pictures of beautiful memorials to children gone too soon.

 

This is the headstone that lead me to find my great grandmother's grave.  This little girl was playing with matches and her dress caught on fire.   A neighbor jumped over the fence to help but was too late.

The graves of children always break my heart.

very sad! I cannot imagine the tears that were shed by those graves. I heard on PBS that at the turn of the century, 1900, one out of four children did not live past the age of 6. That is unbelievable.

My late husband is buried in a section of the cemetery just a bit beyond the children's area. I had him burried there because it is very pretty and he loved children.
It is sad to see how many died too young.
