Just a little more to think about when contemplating drivers coming at you in the opposite direction; their current state of mind.

My head’s on fire
I’ve lost life’s desire
Stress level building higher & higher
(Buckle up and shut the door)
My happiness is gone
It’s too dark before the dawn
Been suffering far too long
(Engine comes to life once more)
I yell at myself
Rage, not a cry for help
I forgot how ‘goodness’ felt
(Left turn out of the drive)
Rain upon the windshield
My wipers cannot prevail
My soul wants to set sail
(My destruction I connive)
Tears burn within my eyes
My ears burned by many lies
It is time for better skies
(Steering wheel now maligned)
Screaming now, I cannot stop
Rubber melts the paved bedrock
It’s destiny that I mock

Very well done!
Otherwise a great poem, sir! I loved the picture you put with it. Well done!
BTW - I've decided on New York for now. Pulling out of the south next week. After NY for a spell if I'm not working I'll continue north to New England.
Good luck on novel
Christmas can be a real bitch if you are lonely.
We got to a hilly part of that long stretch ahead and as we came up each knoll we could see a car miles ahead doing the same - only on the wrong side of the road. She (yes we saw her) would travel the straights on her side and at each knoll she would move into the wrong lane. We realized she was going to kill herself and some innocent people too.
My husband sped up to catch her (this was before seat belts and cell phones) and managed to get past her. He sped up and flew down the highway hoping to get stopped by a cop. It didn't happen. We got to the next town, found a cop and told him what was going on and he radioed and left in a hurry.
We never heard the rest of the story but we were not far from our friends and they watched the papers so I guess the cops stopped her and all was well.
I was terrified.
