Ok, this is my rant for the day...
I thought the whole purpose of the US Constitution was to protect our freedoms in this country, so that Govt couldn't take them away (as they had under the Queen's rule)???
Ok, so tell me this...why is it that instead of solving problems, the govt creates more with its so-called "solutions"? (This is actually a rhetorical question for some of you, because I know that YOU KNOW the answer, but I am trying to get the others to think a bit, so bear with me)
For instance, Federal Income Tax....it started out voluntary, right? And it still is, although many people understand the "unwritten" IRS code that says if you don't pay it, we will TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING YOU OWN and make your life miserable until you WISH you had paid it, then we hold you up as an example to the others who might think about dissention! (We will only look the other way IF you have friends and buddies in the fed govt, then you can do what you want till you are exposed to the public)
Another for instance, the SeatBelt Law...that is the STUPIDEST law I have ever, EVER seen! Who does this law protect me from? ME?????? Why in the heck do I need a law that protects me from myself??? WTH??? Who are they kidding? This is another thing that began as a "voluntary" act, then they suggested (then quickly demanded) that car manufacturers put them in all new cars, then it became mandatory to wear them, and now people pay big fines if they are "caught" by the police officers not protecting themselves (from themselves)....how stupid can we get?
Did you notice the "balloon" ads they floated, to see how well they would be received, a couple yrs ago? It was the commercials about the guy walking into a grocery store and putting stuff off the shelves under his shirt and in his pockets...(it was made to look like he was shoplifting), then he proceeded to walk out the door, and there was a beep that indicated he had just been scanned as he went through the door, he didn't even have to slow down, he grabbed the receipt on the way out the door, with a big smile on his face...the point they were making was, Wouldn't it be so convenient to be able to just do that, instead of waiting forever behind a line of full carts at WalMart??? Shortly afterwards (or about the same time, can't remember exactly when), they came out with cashier-less check-outs...(I refuse to use them, because it eliminates someone's job)...and now, they are implanting our pets (for convenience' sake, in case they are lost), next it will be our kids, (ALL VOLUNTARY, OF COURSE)...but HOW CONVENIENT! Then it will be mandatory to be able to buy or sell anything, because scanners will be at all doors of all department and grocery stores, and you won't be able to enter to shop anywhere without your "mark"...think it can't come to that? Just hide and watch, and see if it doesn't!
What do you think will happen with Gun Registration? First voluntary registration, then mandatory registration, then confiscation! (Mine are all at the bottom of the lake somewhere in the US...an unfortunate boating "accident")
How about this Universal Health Care they are pushing so hard...they CLAIM it will be voluntary, but the way it is written up says it will be MANDATORY! Along with a whole lot of other stuff that will be mandatory, right along with it!
The fed govt is full of liars, extortionists, criminals, and career politicians...they don't care anymore about you and me than they do about the millions of innocent aborted babies, we are all trash to them, "things" to be controlled, and enslaven to make them more money...it's all about greed and power folks...
And THAT is why I am a proponent of NOT GIVING UP ANY OF MY RIGHTS, because one by one, they are trying to take them away, and we are losing our grip on our liberty and security, when we buy into the lies...and eventually, it will be our sanity....
Give them an inch, they always take a yard...it's high time we take that "yard" stick and whack their greedy little hands with it, till they let go!
How's that for my two cents?
Scooter, I could sure use a Margarita right now, can I come over? I'll bring the key limes! Maybe some Mescal would be better, certainly quicker...LOL
ADDED LATER {The following is new information I just became aware of in connection with Social Security}:
Our Social Security
Franklin Delano. Roosevelt (Terms of Office March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945), a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.
He Promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,
3.)That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to'Put Away'-- you may be interested in the following:
Dwight David Eisenhower, 34th President, Republican,
Term Of Office: January 20, 1953 to January 20, 1961 If I recall correctly, 1958 is the first year that Congress, NOT President Eisenhower, tried to vote to remove funds from Social Security and put it into the General Fund for Congress to spend.
If I recall correctly, it was a democratically controlled Congress.
From what I understand, Congress' logic at that time was that there was so much money in the Social Security Fund that it would never run out and would always be used for the purpose it was intended and set aside for.
Question: Which Political Party actually took Social Security from the Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?
Answer: It was Lyndon B. Johnson (Democrat, Term of Office: November 22,1963 to January 20, 1969) and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.
Question: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security
(FICA) withholding?
Answer: The Democratic Party: William Jefferson Clinton
(Bill Clinton) 42nd President, Democrat, Term of Office: January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001 and Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. (Al Gore) 45th Vice President, Democrat, Term of Office: January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001
Question: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
Answer: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore, Vice President, casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US ...
AND MY FAVORITE:
Question: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?
ANSWER: That's right! JAMES EARL CARTER, JR. (JIMMY CARTER) (DEMOCRAT, TERM OF OFFICE: JANUARY 20, 1977 TO JANUARY 20, 1981 AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
IMMIGRANTS MOVED INTO THIS COUNTRY, AND AT AGE 65, BEGAN TO RECEIVE SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS: THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY GAVE THESE PAYMENTS TO THEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER PAID A DIME INTO IT!
Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the "Republicans want to take your Social Security away"!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
Some LIBERALS are awfully SURE of what isn't so.
AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!
Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President, Democrat, Term of Office: January 20, 1777 to January 20, 1781 said:
"A government big enough to give you everything you want,
is strong enough to take everything you have".
MY, OH MY, HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!

I'm mixed on the seat belt law; if an individual chooses not to, so be it. But I am strongly in favor of a law that makes people put the belts their children.
Yes, "one by one" we are losing rights!
I like the opportunity to have a seatbelt, and I wear mine with diligence, but I also agree it should be voluntary. Same with helmets.
I also won't use the self scanners at the grocery store. Not only does it put people out of a job, but THAT is also part of what I am PAYING FOR, when I buy those groceries. If I wanted to bag them for myself, I'd get my stuff at Aldi or Save-a-lot where the groceries are cheaper BECAUSE you bag them yourself. (and sometimes I do) That is supposed to be part of the deal. I remember when grocery stores (and other stores and businesses for that matter) used to PRIDE THEMSELVES on the quick and friendly service at the checkout.
Finally I have noticed some Americans who were silent before standing up to be heard. I hope there is enough to make a difference, I really do.
Yes, everything should be voluntary, but of course, as soon as the fed govt gets involved, everything quickly becomes a mandated money maker for them...
Speaking of customer service and paying for it: In Iowa, we have a (Christian)-family-owned grocery chain "Fareway" that requires all employees to wear white shirts and black pants, men wear black ties to finish off the look...they bag for you, walk your groceries to your car, and load them for you...they also have a fresh meat counter, just like in the old days where you pick what you want from fresh meats and they wrap it in freezer paper for you...(and they are closed on Sundays, to honor God's commandment concerning the Sabbath and to allow their employees to do the same, if they so choose)...AND their prices are VERY compatible with the local Wal-Mart...I am not sure how many chains around the country do that still, but these guys are thriving in Iowa, in spite of the economic downturn!
I hope Rand Paul gets elected in Kentucky. He announced his Senate run about a week ago. More people like him are needed.
