Although it seems like it just began, the summer is in its final stretch. Sayonara barbeques, konichiwa to crisp air and soup for supper. Gather wants to know – does the end of summer make you say “yay!” or “nay!”?

I didn't even think of that! It's just so hot here that when it cools off it's still in the high 70's - we only get a month or two of cold weather!

Woo Hoo. I loved my summer. It will be hot here for quite a while yet. The kiddos all have to go back to school and some are happy about it and some are not.

It's been a mildly hot summer (no complaints), I have a child starting Kindergarten. This change of seasons is truly marking a new beginning in my life!

We only have three seasons here, hot, not so hot and Mardi Gras. I'll be glad when we get to not so hot even though so far the summer has been a little cooler than usual. The kids are already back in school here, so its nice and quiet during the day and you can enjoy some time for reflection and solitude outside.

I voted, though I don't have kids, so the first two didn't really apply.

Summer really doesn't start here until September. Also, I've been working a lot of hours, so I am still wearing sweaters because they keep the buildings so cold.

The end of summer means totally YAY to me! It's too darn hot in Bakerfield for the summer so I can't wait for our mild Bakersfield winter!!
Most of my votes was in the majority of everyone else after the results posts. Actually all of them expect 1.
Summer, definitely makes me say "YAY" it's over. It's my least favorite season of the year.

I am looking forward to the end of summer - end of heat and humidity.
It'll also be the beginning of the rest of my life.
I retired in June, completely - no night school even - and during summer vacation, well it just feels like summer vacation.

summer used to mean no work...and school meant I went back to work but I quit my job.
I homeschool and always look forward to it being public school time so I know the kids know they will be working.

I always loved summer best, and wished it would never end. I moved to Florida three and a half years ago... and it has been summer ever since, with a couple of short breaks. I will never tire of it.

I am both happy and sad to see summer end. Sad because it means my summer visit with my family in PA. is coming to an end, but glad because it means when I return home to AZ the weather will be starting to get a little cooler.

I love the summer months, not looking forward to shoveling snow, the muddy messes, getting up early to get kids off to school. ugg finding the money to buy school supplies for 5 kids, clothes.. depressing
On a positive note, I will have plenty of time to work without interuptions, freedom to go where I want to during the day, without getting a sitter.

I'm sad to see summer go. It means the kids are off to college again, and I'll be on my own. But at least I get to go back to work and see all "my kids" there everyday.

I love summer along with late spring and early fall. I do NOT want another 8+ ft of snow like last winter. I'm sad as my youngest grandson, Liam, starts 1st grade this fall. I've taken care of him 5 days a week since he was born. I will still be getting him off to school in the mornings and picking him up from school but it won't be the same as sharing the day with him.

I've been dieting all summer so can't say I've had "summer fare". I eat the same things in the summer as I do all year long.

I love summer but i'm ready for fall so the weather can get a bit cooler. Its been really humid and hot lately and my husband works out in this heat and the cooler weather would really help him while he's out.

I'm not ready for summer to be over yet - and I always miss the kids terribly. My flip flops are firmly planted and my hams and hots are ready for the BBQ - at least for another couple of weeks :)

I love summer and ours has been entirely too short this year! It's been an odd weather year for our area. I am definately not a winter person and it seems like we have much more winter than any other season here. The kids are excited to go back to school. I have a new kindergartner and a 7th grader!

Summer never really happened for us here in the midwest it seems. It was cold all spring and then it rained and rained and rained and it never really got hot enough yet... and here it is... school is starting already!

Talking of the end of summer...my husband decided at the last minute to have a cookout... a big one, this week-end. People from St. Louis and Chicago are coming so, I have to get my house ready. I know for sure I will need 3 guests bedrooms prepared. And because they are coming, he invited OTHER people to come meet them... 30 other people for a cook-out on Sunday. I have to be ready to feed these special people all their meals after they arrive plus a huge Filipino style Luau for a crowd on Sunday.

Can I run away from home now?

I am amazed summer is over. I really love the sunshine. I could do without the heat but I love the sun and I love the late hours of sunlight. I'm not looking forward to the winter nights. It seems like winter lasts forever. Maybe it's cause I hate it so much.

It will be very cool up here in Alaska in another 2 -3 weeks, and in September we'll probably see some light dusting of snow. It was a very warm summer for us and very humid, a rarity here. I'm happily looking forward to the "Ber" months!

Some of the polls should have a 3rd choice for those of us in areas like Southern Ca. We do not have to pack up our summer clothes or cover up our tan since we can get one most of the year. I do not think last winter I even had to put socks on once. Just wore my sandles all year.

I love summer time, but I love the changing of the seasons too. I love when fall comes, when you can pull out the jackets, and have wienie roasts and the kids can go trick or treating. I love the changing of the leaves.

I think I love all the seasons, and after I have had enough with one, another one comes along.

As a kid, I always hated the summer. I enjoyed the weather and whatnot, but hated being stuck at home all day. I loved school, and couldn't wait to get back to it! I still enjoy getting back to the routine, but now that I'm older and on the other side of the equation, I've got to say that I enjoy spending time with my kid during the summer, when it's just us...and her active social life. LOL

I am sad to see the end of summer vacation for my children. I think I hate to see them go back to school more than they do. I love being with my children as much as possible and since I had our baby 1 day before summer break, it feels like it has flown by way to quickly.

for us Summer really did just get here with the heat. If I had more summers with temps like this I would never want it to end. However, though I do not have children who are in schoo, my husband is a professor and I am a new college student. I'm looking forward for him to get back into action and out from under myfeet when it comes to house work and stuff. And too, since I've been given this opportuntity to start school I'm thrilled and am looking forward for school to start. I won't mind the cooler temperatures, but I dread the ice and bitter cold.

I want the summer to end! I hate the heat.
Gather got my vote! I enjoy the summer atmosphere, but at the same time it'll be nice to go places & it not be so crowded because everyone is out of school or off of work. & it'll be nice to get a break from all the heat. I enjoy all the seasons for the various clothing choices. So i can't wait for something else. Although i do like wearing my flip flops... easy on & off!
