Hidden Mr. Hyde
In the layers of our souls,
secrets hide never told.
Hidden from all prying eyes
covered here and there with lies.
Secrets we have never shared,
our soul’s dark corners, never bared.
Private places all our own
where seeds of small deceits are sown.
Secluded deep within our hearts,
deceptions we cannot impart.
Masked behind our public faces,
disguised to erase any traces.
Undisclosed these places stay
the dregs and dross of our dismay.
They represent our darker side
Our alter ego.... Mr. Hyde.

A poem from several years ago that I may have posted at one time here on Gather, I honestly can't remember. I hardly every write in rhyme, but this one came to me when I was struggling with some inner "demons" a few year back. I'm presently reading a book (Debbie Ford's The Dark Side of the Light Chasers) about dealing with our "dark" side and making peace with ourselves. I think this poem nearly ten years ago was the beginning of looking inward for me.

I will not let mine escape anymore, Rose. Every day, I acknowledge when it pops up and every night I admit I saw it. Then every morning I ask God to show me all I need to see to rid it from its hiding places within.
A wonderful piece. Thank you.
I think we have to embrace our dark side and accept that we all have one; we are, after all, human.
The best characters in books are the one that have a flaw somewhere that we can identify with and make a connection.
This is FEATURED in Artistic Therapy.
Yes, we all have that side. We just try not to bring it out.
(Long time, no see.. ) :-)
