As part of my daily devotional Bible readings I read a Proverb every day and a Psalm. So this may extend to another post on a Psalm a day! Who knows where this may lead. The way I read Proverbs is by reading the Proverb that is the day of the month. For example, today is the 13th and I would read the 13th Proverb! I am going to try to discuss a verse that really "jumps" out at me in each Proverb each day. I really hope you will be able to share your views, no criticisms please, also and we can have a great Bible Study each and every day.

Proverbs 13 *New International Version*
1 A wise son heeds his father's instruction,
but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
The book of Proverbs in itself is full of wisdom and this verse really grabbed me today. I have been a child with parents, a parent with childre3n and now have grandchildren. This verse no
t only speaks to heeding a father's instruction but also listening to a mother's advice. My parents both have passed on and I wish I had listened to them more than I did. I ask myself so many times in one single day "why didn't I listen closer or watch them do this or that more closely?"
This Proverb is teaching us to accept our parent's discipline and not to mock them according to the Life Application Bible. Did you ever mock or make fun of your parents when they corrected you or gave you advice? Did your children ever make fun of you for giving them advice or your grandchildren? I can say yes to all three questions, and i am asha
med of answering my first question with a yes.
My parents were chocked full of wisdom and smarts and I didn't learn that until I was in my 40's. Up until then I reckon I thought they were the dumbest people on earth. I didn't think they knew anything and the older I get I realize every day how wise and smart they were and I wish over and over that I had listened and heeded to their advice. Now it is too late, they are gone to be with the Lord.
I have seen my children laugh or smirk or roll their eyes when their daddy or I gave them advice or told them when we saw they were making a very bad decision. We were/are so dumb. They will realize that one day and then we'll hear them say to someone, I wish
I had listened more and heeded to their advice.
God is the same way, He wants us to take His advice, that is written in the Holy Bible, and use it to live a much fuller life for Him but we are all guilty of not heeding to His Word as we should. We hare just as guilty of not searching out in His Word the answer to our needs and searching for God's advice and answers.

Did/Do you listen to your Mom and Dad's instructions?
Did/Do you heed to the
ir advice or do you make fun of them and think they just do not know what they are talking about because they are not or have never been in your situation?
Do you have children that do the same thing? They think you don't know what you are talking about?
What about God's instructions and advice?
I'm eager to hear your HONEST answers. I was honest with you so I expect it in turn from you. These are hard pills to swallow but I swallow it ever day by not listening and learning all I possibly could have from my precious mama and daddy.
God bless you!
