I saw the movie "Julie & Julia" yesterday and I thought it was excellent. Meryl Streep did an amazing job as Julia Child and Amy Adams was very good as Julie Powell. I am currently reading the book, but I am only about 50 pages into it, so I can't say how closely the movie follows the book.

I learned some things about Julia Child, that I didn't know before; she was a very interesting woman.

Julie Powell decided to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Childs' cookbook, ``Mastering the Art of French Cooking", in 365 days. It made for some very interesting experiences.

I would highly recommend this movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my Mother-in-law.

I do want to see this. I got an old Julia Child's cooking show DVD at the library. She was really down to earth, and not all perfect and snobby at all. She would make mistakes or things would go wrong, she would just make a comment about it and keep on going.

I want to see this too. I took some cooking lessons with Julia Child and Jacque Pepin many years ago.. she was always a hoot, very funny. Jacque and Julia had good chemistry with each other. I enjoyed their classes so much. I am also in one of her WGBH TV cooking specials as an audience member. :) thanks for sharing

It seems like such a strange premise to decide to cook everything in a cookbook in a year. I guess it worked out well for her though.

my mom and I used to watch her show,, yet I wish I could take my mom to this movies,, I think I will wait for the dvd which I know will be long time to watch it with my mom..

I went to see it and I loved it. It was so refreshing to see a movie that wasn't all about feeling sorry for yourself.

It does look like a good movie. I loved the interview Stephen Colbert did with Streep on "The Colbert Report."

I love to cook, and so do several of my girlfriends, but I'd completely forgotten about this movie. Thank you for reminding me. Now I'll have to get the gang together to see it.

I see great things in Amy Adams future--she's such a lovely actress, isn't she?

I did a search on Gather to see what the reviews are on this movie. I am sure now that I will enjoy it. Where there many men in the theater with you, LOL ? Probably not a good date movie, huh.
Hope to go within the next few days its here in Beaufort now.
