I Am So Dissapointed

Well we got news today that my nephew will most likely be going to prison. First of all let me say that he has been in some trouble in the past. He's been on probation for quite a while now and in July he just turned 18. Well last night or the night before he and three of his cousins apparently stole two cars! Then they set one on fire. He is now sitting in County Jail. Tomorrow his bond will be set. He has 7 counts against him. That means most likely he's going to the big house. I am thoroughly dissapointed in him. I have to say that ever since his father passed away he has been on a downward spiral. Drugs, underage drinking, and stealing has captured his attention. How can an 18 year old boy be so much trouble. It's bad enough that his own mother had said that she would kick him out as soon as he turned 18. I wonder if she did. I'll update more as I find out more. His own mother hasn't told anyone in the family about what exactly happened. She just called his grandpa's house to try to get him to come to the hearing tomorrow. I know she was attempting to get him to bail him out. He wouldn't do it even if he had the money, nor will anyone else in the family. We have all tried to help him out, but he's had more than enough chances. He is still loved by all of this and maybe this will finally be a wake up call for him to straighten up!

Sometimes they just gotta grow up and learn the hard way. The kids growing up now days are hell on wheels. Praying for him to get his life together.

Sometimes just saying NO is what they need. You do the crime, you pay the fine. Most of them think they can get by with it just because they are minors. Perhaps he forgot he is not a minor anymore and can go to prison.

i know some kids think they know everything and theyare so hard headed some times it takes a lot of bad things in your life to happen to you befor you wake up and smell the coffee

Hopefully, like you said, this will be his wake-up call. Kids think they are invincible. Sometimesa slap in the face is what they need. I wish hime the best of luck.

I understand how you, all of you, are feeling about your nephew's latest shenanigan, and I truly empathize with you! One thing tho'...please be disappointed in his behavior, not in him. Obviously, he is disturbed in some way, about some thing, and needs love, as well as guidance, and responsibility to gain respectability.

Yes, we are very dissapointed in his behavior. I still think he's a good person and I agree that he needs a lot of guidance. a lot of his problems started when his dad, my husband's brother passed away. Cody blamed himself. His last words to his dad were "I hate you". So he regreat it because his dad passed away that night from a massive heart attack.

WoW! That's a lot for his young heart to hold. I hope & pray he can get some professional help to assist with healing his heart - maybe then his feeling about himself would change, as well as his behavior. Good luck to you all Tara!

That's really sad. It sounds like he's in a lot of pain & is trying to escape with drugs, alcohol, etc. Maybe he could use some counseling... Sending a 10 your way to cheer you up. I will pray for him & for you & your family.

I've been there. My nephew was a bit older but got into drugs. We watched as this good looking kid slowly became skeletal. I truly believe going to prison saved his life.
I hope that your nephew gets that wake up call to set his life straight.

Oh, Tara... so sorry to hear about your nephew. It's hard to watch someone you love mess up their life. Unfortunately, we can't save them all. It does sound like he's been through a lot in his young life and he's dealing with a lot, but going around it the wrong way. Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for him and he'll turn his life around. I'll pray for him. ^i^

It's a whole other ball gane after 18. I think the law should take a stand on the 1st offence instead of letting kids go until there are adult sentences handed down for repeated problems. Mandatory 10 days away from their friends and video games might get their attention and make them think twice about further bad behavior. Speaking from past experiences with juvie laws!

It's so sad that one error of judgment when one is so young and knows nothing can lead to disaster and possibly a life of crime. I hope someone steers him clear of this.

so sad...... a nephew by marriage has been in prison since he was 19 or 20........that would be about 39 years now....life sentence...no parole..... his crime....he raped his date...... now it takes a real idiot to do that..... even more of an idiot to rape a georgia sheriffs daughter.........the way i see it he got what he deserved but i dare not say that....lol.....but even his uncle warned his parents about him years ago.....i can just see his family temper taking over and.....don't tell me NO....... so sad......
