Well OK, so it's more like a slide show but it is really cool.
Using Picasa3:
First select the photos you want to use... keep in mind that the more photos the bigger the "video/slide show" Use the control key as select each picture, this allows you to select multiple pictures. When you have selected the desired amount click on the button labeled "movie"
Here you will be able to edit your movie/slide show before it is created. The first frame will be the title frame if you click on the tab labeled frame you can change the words here. Generally your title frame will be the name of the folder from which you pulled the pictures and the date it was created. You can edit it here, with your choice of font, the size of the font, bold italics... etc.
If you click over to each picture you can add text to each one if you so desire.

Click on the movie tab: this is where you can select frame rate and transition style. You can also add an audio track to your slide show. I have done this but since it is a copyrighted song I didn't upload that version of the slide show. It's for my own personal viewing. You can however, make a separate recording of your own and add it (something I haven't experimented with as yet) and add it to your slide show so that there is a narration.. possibly even a poem (OH.. idea!!)

When all is done click on the "Create movie" button
Your screen will look like this while the movie is being created:

Then you can play your movie... after it is saved you can also up load to YouTube from here. I would advise that if you have an account and want to up load to YouTube that you go to youtube and up load it.

I have also successfully been able to up load the 'video' to Gather.
Here is the embedded YouTube version: (yes there is no sound)
